I found an article on Wikipedia that suggested that The Internet is one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. I'm serious about this. I'll try to be as neutral as I can though. Like a compare and contrast sort of thing.
One the one hand...
People could say "Of course not! The internet's just a place where people's lives are slowly ruined, and full of viruses and trojan horses and wierd porn." Most of the internet is made up of strange people, like n00bs, furries, emos, otherkin, the list is endless. These idiots have an amazing power, the power to be "ananymous". You can do virtually anything you want on the internet as long as your personal information isn't released. This power is almost instantly abused and all kinds of wierd things clutter up this "wonder of the world". It's full of garbage and so called powerful search systems lead nowhere except into worthless tripod sites, creepy forums, and even porn sites. And so forums are so out of control and have such ungovernable people you couldn't tell the difference if you were still in a forum or a zoo! This doesn't compare with real wonders of the world, the world that's not inside your computer monitor. Grass, trees, mountains, valleys, caves, fields, monuments, forests, all kinds of earth just waiting to be enjoyed. The earth is being destroyed so fast anyway, I bet by the time I'm dead, the only existing Earth LEFT will be on the Internet!
The flip side of that is...
Don't get me wrong. The internet is, no doubt about it, a huge place, virtually for everyone and at the same time a small group of people. The internet is probably a GODSEND for all businesses, big and small. People can learn a lot, and always find a person, place, thing, or idea to laugh it, or in this case, "LULZ". Entertainment has probably reached an all time high, because some person will actually take time to complain about their personal life or something else that's most likely uninportant on Youtube. More "LULZ" ensue. And sometimes, on very rare occasions, people actually make a REAL friend on the internet. It's great for a little, or a lot, of rest and relaxation.
To me (still trying to be neutral), the Internet has solved more problems than it has produced so far, but eventually, the problems will equal the solutions, and the Internet could be as good as gone, or banned worldwide so that only businesses can use it. I'm sorry this was so lengthy, but I thought Wikipedia brought up a very fascinating question.
Here's the kicker, and I know you guys aren't going to like it one bit. I think that the majority of Wikipedia articles and blogs should be published in books annually so that people can read them in a book form. However, this would be almost impossible, as hundreds and thousands, perhaps millions of comments (most misspelled) are published everyday. So that idea's shot.
If you say no, that doesn't mean that the internet is bad. You just don't think it qualifies to have a title as major as "Wonder of the World".
