I'm baking fudge cookies for our big family Christmas party tomorrow. This is a dangerous thing because right now I have about 30 really tasty cookies cooking on racks on my freezer. And I'm on a diet.  For now ;)

;__________; that sounds awesome!

You guys doing anything fun for xmas? :] We're going to have the whole family over (including Malson) and await my sister and her two kids to open presents. It was pretty fun to watch my family pick out presents for Malson. They had to rely almost completely on his wishlist to know what to get him. :V It's hard to pick presents for the people that say "just get me anything :)".

Amanda and her boyfriend are coming over Christmas day and we'll open presents with the kids and have our traditional chuck roast dinner lol  Nothing really major, but I am looking forward to it. Since Amanda moved out with this new guy I almost never see her ;9  I'm always torn between wanting my kids to get out on their own and being terrified that they will lol

I HATE it when someone tells me "just get me anything"  No one tells me that because I am evil. The last person that said, "just get me anything" was Shane, and he got a hot pink lace thong xD
Title: Re: HOW YOU DOIN

DAMN
I should have gotten malson a hot pink lace thong, too!

We always have a "second thanksgiving" dinner on xmas, with the ham and turkey and whatnot. My favorite is celery (stuffed with an olive and cream cheese). It's really tiring to make all that food when I really just want to open presents. This xmas, I get to be a kid again and get video games. :V

Does your family usually keep presents secret until the 25th? We let some be a surprise, but usually end up figuring most of them out anyways.

Most of the time, yes. In the past we've let the kids open their gifts on the 24th if Christmas day was going to be busy. But that was years ago.  Which is also why we started the Chuck Roast dinner. My parents were divorced, so were Charlie's. So between Thanksgiving and Christmas we were eating 8 different turkey and ham meals. And by Christmas we were so sick of turkey and ham, we just wanted something different. One year Charlie suggested we get a roast and have it with veggies, and we've had that ever since.  As the kids have gotten older our traditions have changed, but some things still stay the same :)

We're going to let the girls open one present Christmas Eve to let some of the excitement off.

Then the craze fest happens when they wake up Christmas morning.

I'm excited about what I got my wife this year. That'll be fun to watch her open presents. Her parents live in town now, so they'll be at our house Christmas morning.

My family is having the extended family over. This is the first time we've ever had family over. We're not dinner hosting people, we're the people that go to people's homes for dinner.

Perhaps somewhere in between?

I'm really concerned that I don't have enough money to do a Christmas this year. Some close family members have told me it's alright if I can't, but I'd still feel terrible to receive but not give on Christmas.

I know exactly how you feel, it's the same here. *hugs*
I even feel terrible, if I can't help or do anything. Or not buying gifts for family members I like. I was really happy, that I could give my brother at least 5€ for christmas, I know it's not much, but it showed at least, that I really like him and want the best for him. He was also happy, which made me even more happy. :D /)

We're going to have the whole family over (including Malson) and await my sister and her two kids to open presents. It was pretty fun to watch my family pick out presents for Malson. They had to rely almost completely on his wishlist to know what to get him. :V It's hard to pick presents for the people that say "just get me anything :)".
It's strange to say, even I'm really old and way out of the age, to believe in all that christmas stuff. But I really enjoyed it every year. My family stopped doing it, they never get together to eat or open presents. They all only give the presents direct, without any gift unwrapping and stuff. Kinda makes me sad, even I should be more grown up. (\s/)

For personal christmas day, I could say it gives as usual potato salad with swollen sausages (hope I got that right, I'm so terrible at translating some stuff :D ).
For my own behaviour, not sure how I am. Something in between good and terrible...
Kinda weird, I guess I could describe it best as a happy emo. :D

Family came over. Fun was had. We watched A Christmas Story. We had dinner.
Then we watched the rest of A Christmas Story, because we ate while it was playing.
Then a random cat appeared at our backdoor meowing like crazy. It sounded like a kitten. We gave it some food and made a place for it to sleep if it can't find anywhere else.
I named it Calcifer.

Hi I didn't die I'm just busy all the time because I'm an adult now I guess  ;9

Me 2 ;_;

A good chunk of my time has actually been going towards college planning, too. I've sent over my transcript and paperwork to UTD, so come this fall, I'll officially be in a University. After that, I intend to crunch out the rest of my schooling and secure a Bachelor's in Arts & Tech (which can essentially range anywhere from design to forms of programming - hopefully more on the design side, for my sake ;9). It's basically a degree for game-design-related stuff, but it can be used to enter some pretty neat fields, including web design. I took a look around on search engines and there's a lot of different jobs that could easily consider this degree because of its flexibility. If I still want to get into the teaching field, I could probably even wriggle my way into an art teaching position from there. This is something related to my strengths (art), blended with something more in demand (tech). I'm pretty content with that. B)

At best, it'll take 1 1/2 years. This process keeps demanding a lot of time and research - not to mention many visits to the counselors' office to make sure I'm doing everything right. Which didn't really help because one of the advisers basically sent me to contact someone else who was not helpful at all and now my paperwork is all backwards gaaaaaaah. :firerain:

I intend to squeeze in full-time classes this time around, especially now that I'm working at a place that pays me more and has me work less hours. The class times seem manageable, but I'm a bit concerned about what the homework schedule is going to look like when I take a full course load of classes.

Adult life sucks. ;9

Granted these exclude a heck of a lot of tears and unhappy times.

But being an adult isn't too crappy all the time.

Now to pay bills...

I know... ;~; minus the baby part (my baby nephew is actually pretty well behaved already). Working with kiddos reminds me every day that I'm an adult. ;9 I start to feel old when they're amazed that I'm not married, a mother, or that I was alive for 9/11.

Only if we put him up for adoption and make him believe that we were really super heroes and so he's a super hero who thinks he doesn't have parents but then when he turns 12 and is all "i'm a growing almost teenager with no parents boohoo" then BAM we show back up and are like "Hey we're not dead!" and he's like "yay!" but then we have to break the news to him that we're not super heroes and that he's not either but its fine now cause he's got parents again.

uhhhhh right... I had another reason for posting here...

I just wanted to say that I am most certainly still alive (I could be alive as a ~ghost~ or something), but I have 3-4 10-page papers due by the end of the semester and even my week-long fall break next week isn't going to satiate that. ;___; I have, like, 2 weeks of actual classes left, though. :3 Yey~

Trying ta chase da dream... I'm definitely going to have a back-up career if my dream job doesn't work out. ;~;

Game Design is a pretty tough field to get into, even with all the companies in my area. We had a guest speaker today remind us of how bad the work conditions can be in the field, especially because people are always lined up to take your job.

Aww, yeah it's great to chase your dreams, but there is nothing wrong with having a safety net in place if you fall ^__^
