Someone messaged me about one of my games and says that when he saves, and exits, when he opens the game again, the game save isn't there. I'm getting the impression the save is there as long as the program remains open, since he specifically mentions closing it, but I could be wrong about that. Any ideas? I've never heard of this before.

The only thing I can think of, is that the folder that the game is in was set to read-only.
Have him check that.

Instead of installing the game first, he used winrar and was running the game from within the archive. Didn't know you could do that. *shrugs*

You might want to do a bit more testing. I noticed while playing beta (which is also rm2k I believe) that the save files disappeared from the folder. The weird part, however, is that they are still loadable through the game. Meaning that the data isn't actually lost. You just can't see it in the folder. It must be a bug of some sort because I have my show hidden files and folders set to on, so nothing is hidden on my comp... I don't think it is something you really can fix though...

Finding the files themselves wasn't the problem though. He couldn't load his saved games because he was playing from within the rar file. I'm pretty sure the games weren't meant to be played that way.
