Title: Australian Pokemon... Stumped.
Post by: DarkWolf on December 19, 2005, 06:33:04 PM
Hey guys, just popping in and seeing as this is my first real post im Wolfie, 21 female australia. Anyways my question is, how do i make a pokemon like game? is it possible? i want to make an australian version of pokemons and name it something else of course just to get a kick from my mates. I have the RMXP and ive been playing around with all the different functions for some time now and i think im slowly getting the hang of it but this is one of my main questions.

So can anyone help me out here? im stumped.

Thanks
Wolfie

to do it you have to change the entire system
it can be done by massing around with the scripts for..a month.. 2.. or with eventing like crazy for 100..200months...

what i am tryign to say is, if you want a pokemon battle system you are going to have to put months of work, it's seriously hard or at least seems hard..

but anyways a big warm welcome to the forums!

When you buy never winter nights, after you install it and the menu comes up to start the game instead of clicking play you click "toolset" and it brings up a full mod maker, very easy to learn and there is a whole webpage called "neverwinter nights vault" with extras and tutorials etc. If your going to buy neverwinter nights then i recommend the full new edition thats just been released called "neverwinternights Diamond."

the aurora toolset is quite powerful though goes mostly unreckognised.

The answer to your question is...Yes, you can make a very good pokemon game..look around here and rmxp.net/forums ...there should be a script or 2 around here that gives you the 'pokemon system'
Also, Welcome =P

Try at this site here; (http://www.phoenixgamez.com/) they're making a pokemon game (http://www.phoenixgamez.com/index.php?pg=hddemo) and it looks pretty good. They're using either RPGMaker 2k3 or 2000 for this.

www.rmxp.net

if you even got passed the lag to the first page after those 18 minutes i'd be impressed...
anyways... keep looking til your blood is squirting out of your eyes..
sorta hard to find what you want, but that's the price for quality

Whoa, nice one, congratulations, but in that forum they say that this script is full of mistakes. Do you know if they were fixed?

I bet you don't need a script to make a catching system.

skill connected to common event but as many common events as the monsters cause you need diffrent catches

check there is only 1 pokemon (can't catch more than one a battle) random between 1 to 10 for pokeball (2 to 10 and so on for better pokeballs) add 1 for every 30% gone off the monster's hp and if the total number is 10 or higher then you catched, in any way it results in losing a pokeball unless there is more than 1 monster and then you just lost a turn.
you'll also need a pokeball animation and hero for every monster

it's really quite simple actually, but like i said it's alot of hard work

Well i was basically hoping there was a full finished script out there as .. i really suck at scripting. It doesnt matter if one cant be found as i dont want you guys going out of your way for me. I am rather glad that my first post did spike a good convo though. And Ramiro, thanks mate i figured the edit post thing out :D

I actually believe you can make one without any major script changes. Though you will have to spend a enternity editing the database though if you don't iuse scripts.
