Spoiler for Marlene:
Marlene
Medium: Digital
Brush and color experimentation... I'm pretty happy with this. <3 ;_;

Spoiler for Sketches:
Jason Todd Face Sketch / "Gotham's Gravity" / Diora Sketch
Medium: Digital
Jason Todd - a character from the Batman series. This particular version of him comes from Batman: Arkham Knight. "Gotham's Gravity" is a reference to the Arkham Knight Genesis comic series. Hopefully there are no major Batman AK spoilers in these pics, except for what is already canon to the series. :B

Also, Diora. :3

Spoiler for:
Spoiler for Fire Emblem Splices:
Fire Emblem Splices
Medium: Digital
I used to make splices for my FE hacks all the time, but this is the first time I've made them in awhile. :)

Spoiler for Art Nouveau (ish) Diora:
Art Nouveau (ish) Diora
Medium: Watercolors, Sharpie
I felt like trying to make art that was somewhat old-school shoujo anime (inspired by the Miracle Tarot (https://miracletarot.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/shimizutarot3.jpg) deck) and something Art Nouveau at the same time. I also felt like drawing *Diora (y'know, from my cheesy game, The Lhuvia Tales), so voila! :boe: This picture took me ALL night to make. ;~; And some of last night. I consider it my best watercolor piece so far. Squehh :gracie:
*If you're wondering why her hair is blue, that's because Diora is normally supposed to have blue hair. I changed her hair for that game only, and missed the blue hair already. ;9

Spoiler for Queen of Swords Painting:
Queen of Swords Painting
Medium: Watercolors, Sharpie
My Mucha-style Art Nouveau Queen of Swords! ;______; I've been on a painting craze lately and finally started working with using watercolors for actual pictures (instead of just backgrounds). For the second time, technically (I forgot to post the first picture :<). Anyways, this took me 6+ hours to draw out and paint. I used a reference for the pose, but that's pretty much it. I'm extremely proud of this, but also in some pretty extreme back pain after doing all the painting in a straight shot (that part alone probably took 4 hours). :B I also used a rag for the background speckly pattern. :>
(http://i.imgur.com/Q8rwWeI.png)

Spoiler for Fire and Water Paintings:
Fire and Water Paintings
Medium: Watercolors
I loooove using watercolors. Even more fun when you pattern it. ;~;

Spoiler for Symmetrical Magical Monster:
Symmetrical Magical Monster
Medium: Graphite Pencil, Colored Pencils
I actually intended for it to be a design originally, but it ended up transforming into something adorable and boe-inspired. :boe:

Spoiler for Geometric Print Images:
Geometric Print Images
Medium: Recycled Print Images, Sharpie Colors
Uhhh something about abandoned images from the print class that we decided to cut into shapes, design, and add a little color to. I dunno, but it looks kinda neat.

Spoiler for Beauty & the Beast Puzzle Painting:
Beauty & the Beast Puzzle Painting
Medium: Acrylics
This was part of an art assignment to cut up Disney pictures and place them around randomly, sort of like a puzzle. The goal was to match the colors to the original picture as best as possible. I don't really like the painting much, but it took awhile and I'm glad I actually can say that I painted something. :B This was my first time ever using Acrylics, so it's a bit sloppy. Not that you can see the full extent of that with my terrible phone's camera.

*Not actual size. The painting is like 16x20?

Spoiler for Synchronized Swimmers:
Synchronized Swimmers
Medium: Watercolors and magazine cut-outs
(http://i.imgur.com/xrPS9V9.png?3)

Sorry for the crappy image quality... I took this picture on my phone. ;9 This is my most recent assignment in my art class! I had to paint a watercolor background (using saran wrap to make the pattern) and then cut out pieces from magazines (using people-shaped stencils). I then had to place them in a design of my choosing, so this was the final piece.
Also, I chose the name because they sort of look like they're swimming in synchronization. Ya kno??

Spoiler for RPG Maker Maps 2015:

Spoiler for Ghirahim:
Ghirahim
Medium: Digital (bamboo tablet)
Made some LoZ fan art. B) This time, I went for a slightly different style for the coloring. The picture came out a bit sloppy because I set up the tablet with my laptop and had to sit farther away from the screen (I'm near-sighted). I shrunk the pic a bit to cover up the sloppiness. ;]

Spoiler for Katlyn:
Katlyn
Medium: Digital (bamboo tablet)
I felt like drawing a sexy heroine, so I finally hopping on the bamboo tablet for a good 2 or 3 hours to draw this. I went with "Katlyn" because she sort of looks like a Katlyn, I guess! Anyways, it's been a long time since I've drawn something that I put more than 15 minutes of effort into! *___*

2014 Artwork

Spoiler for:
Spoiler for Intuitive Drawings:
Warning Signs
Medium: Digital (GIMP and a mouse. Dr. Mc hijacked my tablet )
Another intuitive drawing.

Tears on the Red Mountain
Medium: Digital (GIMP and a mouse. Dr. Mc hijacked my tablet )
YEAH. That's a fancy, sentimental title. I dig it. ;o This was another intuitive mouse drawing, made for a good friend of mine and symbolically analyzed (via dream interpretation elements). Yes, that sounded smart. I'll keep it.

Spiritual World
Medium: Digital (GIMP and a mouse. Dr. Mc hijacked my tablet )
As part of a pretty fab intuitive course I'm taking, I got to meditate, look like an idiot, and make some calming artwork. Probably not my best, especially given the medium I used (lol), but I really loved making this. For those of you into the same mumbo-jumbo as me: this is my astral world. :)
*Keep in mind that I'm pretty terrible with scenery. ;9

Neutral World
Medium: Digital (GIMP and a mouse. Dr. Mc hijacked my tablet )
Also part of that fabtab intuitive course. I was asked to create a "neutral" world, free of good and bad and whatever. So, I ended up with this weird violet ocean/cloud bright moon starry whatever scenery. To be perfectly honest, I still don't understand this one quite well. ;[ I'm too mystical for myself ~(o_o)~

Spoiler for RMRKMon Stuff:
tswitch Trainer
Medium: Digital (drawing and coloring using a bamboo tablet) & texture images
*_* Another RMRKMon trainer! So proud of dem eyes ;_;

Acolyte Trainer
Medium: Digital (drawing and coloring using a bamboo tablet) & texture images
My new pride and joy. *_* Made for Aco's RMRKMon trainer sprite. Took awhile, but was certainly worth it to me.

Roph: Professional MothaF***a
Medium: Digital
A somewhat hasty drawing of some of the RMRKMon league, depicting Roph as a master pimp because he was (for a bit) the only male member of the league. :V It's also a mock of this picture (http://www.pokelol.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/garyoak_professionalmothafa.jpg).

Spoiler for Other:
That Evil Rich Guy
Medium: Pencil & pen
This was a silly classroom doodle in the 1-2 minute timespan before my biology class started today. I thought it was kinda gnar-gnar for a really quick drawing, so I kept him. B)

Scanner is fixed, so I may start uploading more, new artwork from now on ._.

Maybe I'll make them in the RPG Maker Face style, in case someone needs them. Going to toss up my thanks for Dr. Mc. Even though she lives with me and bears the same blood, I will thank her. Because I love her coloring talents. ._.

Certainly something I need to look into haha xD Anatomy has always been a little smudgy for me. That's probably because I'm self-taught, don't draw down many base shapes, and draw really fast due to being an impatient person. These keep causing me silly errors that take me a bit to recognize. ;9

Thanks, Aco! :) Will certainly work on the anatomy~

I tend to not draw many base shapes either.  I typically draw a stick figure with circles for the hands and half circles for feet.  It's not exactly the best way to do it lol.  I tend to erase a lot.

I do like this stuff though.  It's definitely not bad.

Added some new stuff. Kinda experimenting with coloring styles, art styles, and materials. :P (Used the same colors on both pictures):

Spoiler for Diora:
Another one colored and drawn by me. With a bit of help from Mc, as far as the head-shape goes. :) I don't have very steady hands, so I often have to have stuff like that checked up on. Either way, I went for a different style this time. It's kinda cute and kinda creepy at the same time. :o
(http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n224/mangamariah/Drawn%20Faces/diora.png)

Spoiler for The Fortune Teller:
So, this one was actually drawn in sharpie again. Dr. Mc wanted me to draw on a base she drew (she's been practicing with figures), and so I drew the character, but she drew the initial figure (except a few of my tweaks ;o). Also, I colored it this time. ;o I don't like how thick the lines are, because of the original size, but I rolled with it, anyways. :o The Fortune Teller, from Major Arcana.

Also, the "Kawaii Series" is above, in it's own section. You can check that out if you're feeling particularly bold enough for that weird junk. :V

Thanks! :D Maybe I'll stick to that style a bit. The drawing doesn't take as long as the coloring does. It's just very tedious when it comes to the inking part. >_> Trying... not... to mess... anything up....
Title: Re: ~~ Artwork ~~
Post by: yuyu! on September 09, 2012, 09:25:53 PM
;o I was experimenting with textures, to see if I could find an easier (less time-wasting) way to color things. This didn't take so long, and even though it's a little quirky, I actually really like it. :D

I was planning on making a card deck of my own, but let's how long it will take me to give up drawing 78 or so cards. :P

Thanks for the feedback, guys. ^_^

@Absolute

Yeah, I noticed that, too. ;9 I originally drew him in pencil, but once I do the inking, I tend to make random little errors. Like that. D: And the lines on the strap look funky, too. :s

@Aco

I'm quite bad with light sources. ;9 I normally don't do any coloring, so I haven't had much practice with them yet. My sister is much better at light sourcing and such. So, he just has general shiney-ness. D:

I think I was shooting for a light source to the top-right, but it did not go so bueno. ;9

I've been working on something for my english final project, where I chose to draw a picture to represent my topic. xD

Here's what I've got (just the base drawing and coloring, this isn't the final version for my project):

Spoiler for A creepy guy creepily eating an apple:

So, my topic is about the dangers of pills and the benefits of eating healthy to promote good health instead. =o The pill bottle is going to be crossed out, blah blah, to show that it's a bad thing in this case. The main focal point is going to be that creepy dude and his apple.

This actually reminds me of Djang's art, but that was not my intention at all ^^; haha That's kind of what my art looks like when I steer away from anime-ish stuff, but I wanted the picture to look more silly than anything. :B

Thank you so much!! xD I'm glad you like it~ I'm kinda proud of it, haha. I feel like I do better when I don't try too hard to make the characters look attractive. o.o This time, I went for "realistic", yet still cartoon. :) My drawings typically look better before I ink them. >_< But I'm happy with this one.~

wow. Looking at my last two posts (2ish years apart) really reminds me of how much my typing has changed over the years B( talk about light-switch !!

anyways, I do have some more artwork. It's not super awesome (both drawn with a mouse), but it's personal and related to my spiritualy-ness. ;o

Spoiler for Intuitive Spiritual World:
Medium: Digital (GIMP and a mouse. Dr. Mc hijacked my tablet )
As part of a pretty fab intuitive course I'm taking, I got to meditate, look like an idiot, and make some calming artwork. Probably not my best, especially given the medium I used (lol), but I really loved making this. For those of you into the same mumbo-jumbo as me: this is my astral world. :)
*Keep in mind that I'm pretty terrible with scenery. ;9

Spoiler for Intuitive Neutral World:
Medium: Digital (GIMP and a mouse. Dr. Mc hijacked my tablet )
Also part of that fabtab intuitive course. I was asked to create a "neutral" world, free of good and bad and whatever. So, I ended up with this weird violet ocean/cloud bright moon starry whatever scenery. To be perfectly honest, I still don't understand this one quite well. ;[ I'm too mystical for myself ~(o_o)~

I honestly haven't had much time to draw something actually nice and detailed lately. ;[

Yeah...trying to work on making them less blurry. I keep using the blurry paint tool because it keeps them from being too sloppy when I'm drawing them with a mouse. B( Next time, I might look for some neater effects to help with that. ;o

You could try "drawing" with the polygonal lasso (or lasso) tool. That's what I use for like everything.

Very interesting...thanks for the suggestion! ;o I'll have to check and see if GIMP has one of those and experiment. :)

Those are mostly just quick drawings, since I need to draw quickly while I've got the images in my head. For the nicer looking stuff, I use the tablet (and endure my sister's computer to use it, since she has a desktop and more room for it). ;]

...Not that I've sat down to draw anything neat or nice lately. B(

Oh nice another gimp user! The lasso tool is the same as photoshop's polygonal lasso. For quick drawings and curves, you could also look into the path tool.
Draw a path, Edit > Stroke Path, choose a thickness, and there ya go, a nice smooth outline.

True! I've been really trying to work on my anatomy drawing skills. In a search for a new area of study, I've considered pursuing a B.A. in Arts & Technology. From that angle, I might try to find my way into the gaming industry or get into graphic development and design fields. I'm going to need to really step it up with my art and design abilities, though. ;9

is she a magician?

No, but I went for a magician-like design for her! ;o

Thanks, irock! :-) The triangle thing was a last minute add-on to make her look less naked. It ended up looking kind of odd, though. ;9

Got some non digital art for once - a painting, nonetheless! :drsword:

Sorry for the crappy image quality... I took this picture on my phone. ;9 This is my most recent assignment in my art class! I had to paint a watercolor background (using saran wrap to make the pattern) and then cut out pieces from magazines (using people-shaped stencils). I then had to place them in a design of my choosing, so this was the final piece.

It turned out very unusual. I like it. B) I think I'll experiment with paints some more (after I finish my acrylics assignment).

*edit*
Also, I went with this design because I thought it was cool that they look like synchronized swimmers. So, that's what I've titled this piece after. :B

yay I finished a painting! On, like, a real canvas and stuff! :gracie:

It was an art assignment to cut up Disney pictures and place them around randomly, sort of like a puzzle.

I got some canvases on sale the other day, so I might be doing some acrylic paintings soon, too. :] Watercolors are my favorite right now, so it might take me a bit to branch from them. ;o I want to try out oil painting sometime, too. It's the only one I haven't tried yet. :(

Welp, here's what I spent my evening doing. This took way too much time, but gosh I love it so much! ;o;

Spoiler for:
I changed her hair for that game only, and missed the blue hair already. ;9

The eyes? How so? o.o That's actually the last thing I expected to be off. :B I'll definitely be exploring more with this "shoujo-ish" style, so I'd love to perfect the eyes especially! ;~;

I also might try to use that lovely speckled pattern (background and dress pattern) throughout the entirety of my next painting. It's a lot more signature "watercolor" and damn fun to do! :gracie:

*edit*
I just got some masking fluid, which really helped me to protect the finer details. Soooo much better than using masking tape and having to carve the shapes out of it! ;o;

That makes sense, actually. :-) The eyes are supposed to be in the center of the face.

When I drew it out, I did place them roughly in the middle, but I think the hairline made it confusing. I may have placed that a bit too low. ;_; Also I made the eyes bigger than I usually do, so that probably doesn't help.
Title: Re: ~~ Artwork ~~

Yuyu, when you do eyes, draw three circles in the head, each the same size as the eyes, one for right, one in the middle, and the left, the middle one helps to make the 'space' between the nose be accurate, and help position your eyes. Also, make a square or diagonal lines to help where the eyes will be to evade having one eye up and the other down in a weird way. I'm sorry if I don't make myself umm, clear or hard to understand, Karo will show Yuyu something regarding faces (sorry for the crappy quality). These were old notes from class regarding human Anatomy: (Pardon the writing is in Spanish)

Thanks for the feedback! :) I've actually taken quite a few art classes that covered those techniques. :B I don't always remember to use it them, so I'll be a little more wary of it in the future.

In this particular picture, I actually made the eyes like that. I was experimenting away from realistic art to make things look a little more girly anime-ish. The length and size of the eyes was made to be really long and big on purpose, in my attempt to make them appear more fluttery and girly. Basically, it was for a style effect. Looking back, I really like them, but I'd also like to space them out just a bit more and maybe make them a little less lengthy. ;(

I just got some fancy, expensive watercolors (*cough* thanks to a great coupon). They're 4x the price of my cheap ones (but 8x the cost without the coupon), so I hope to get some good color and use out of these. I've officially passed the "testing" phase and decided that I indeed love watercolor painting. ;~;

I feel super artsy! And not quite broke yet. Yay coupons!

Guuurl, you're improving so much! And I'm loving the watercolors added with your character pictures! ^^

Diora is my favorite so far, most definitely. I only noticed the eyes off a bit once someone said something (lol), but that's because I was totally drawn into her beautiful shirt and the amazing mix of her skin tone you created through watercolor! Absolutely mesmerizing! I also love just the general DETAIL in the clothes, her jewelry, etc.  :gracie:

LOVE it! Now keep at it!  ;D

Thanks, Bree!! :ladyJ: Yeah, I think I'm certainly going to step away from the enormous eyes and size things down a bit. ;o Even though it is very Diora-like to have really long eyes, I may have overdone things. The next picture may be completely painted in the same style as Diora's clothing, because I loved doing that so much! :gracie: I still haven't tried out my new watercolors, so I'm pretty stoked to get the drawing part out of the way! :boe: The Art Nouveau stuff is so darn fun, too! I love meshing the hair like that - it starts to remind me of branches on a tree!

I actually was working on one for my mom, but ended up ruining it on accident and have to start all over. ;9 I tried to use saran wrap for a cool background effect again and it dragged the background color all over the character, past my masking fluid protective borders. ;~; I wasn't careful enough with the new paints, and they are so thickly pigmented that it's impossible to remove the mistakes.

The paper also started ripping too much when I tried to apply more water to soak up some of the stray paint. I've taken my professor's advice and switched to heavy, real watercolor paper. The cheap stuff is awful. ;9

It sucks, but at least I've learned a lot from it. :B
Title: Re: ~~ Artwork ~~
Post by: FlameMaster5 on April 17, 2015, 10:03:21 PM
Awww, that sucks! D:

I think that's why I steer away from paints... I've tried doing it in the past and I think I'm too fearful of that exact thing happening. But then again, the paints can be extremely beautiful when you know how to use them. :3
PC is all just draw it, fix anything that doesn't look proportionate, decide the color scheme, make a color scheme layer as you'd like to 'paint' it, and then brush everything in as a solidified idea - all the while having that trusty eraser I love so much.
I am not nearly as adventurous in my art styles...  ;9

I hate that you have to start over, but I reeeeeally want to see it now if you're trying again to make it. You never know, it might turn out even better now! I think it'll look great! ^^

I should encourage Shelley to draw/paint. Her best stuff is in charcoal.  :o

Paints are definitely brutal - watercolors being perhaps the most unforgiving, despite their gentle appearance. ;9 I think that's actually why I like paints so much, especially watercolors. I love digital stuff, but tangible artwork is just so rewarding to make! :gracie: I guess I like the challenge, too?

I'm also going to give decoupage a try sometime soon. We got some wooden boxes from the art store, so I just need to pick up some mod podge.

That...would be...really incredible. It's such a gritty anime as it is, so charcoal works! XD

I wonder what would happen if I tried charcoal...
We might see some unusual things.  :o

You may already know this, but it's better to use a really large canvas size when you use a tablet. That way you can zoom in and go over your lines more easily.

I normally do that, but wanted to go bold this time. :>

I like the way they turned out, especially for quick sketches, but I think I might try to dedicate some more time to the next ones (and use a bigger canvas). Patience has not always been one of my virtues with art, and I tend to love concepts and sketches more than anything. :B

It's one of those drawing tablet things that you plug into your computer and draw on with a stylus, not a screen tablet or anything. They look like this:

Marlene color experimentation... I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! :tpg:

Finally got around to using the right brush settings! I didn't have pressure opacity set up... T-T

*edit*
Adjusted the right eye.

Thanks, Bree!! ^_^

I learned a lot from some really awesome deviantart tutorials - I posted all three of her tuts here (http://rmrk.net/index.php?topic=48557.msg582519#msg582519). :D Looking back at her stuff, I probably add way more hair details than I need to now... o.o I end up using the gradients as a background, doing some solid shading over that, then drawing on a bunch of strands.

I normally struggle with coloring hair, but lately I feel like I'm struggling with the other types of shading more (especially skin ;9).

OoOooOoOoOooo... Fantastic! Yanno, I think I may try that myself on my next project for my female toon Zaria. I think it could really help with her hair, because it's that nice bluish-black shade and I've been wondering how to pull it off right! This will be great to try! ^^

For some reason I seem to do more ok with skin than hair recently.
I use a lot of colors and then blur them together, and then the right shades make skin appear almost 3D. Pretty epic.  :blizj:
But I'm sure there are tutorials for that as well. I may search that myself. :3

Quick warrior chick drawing~

I didn't really have any time to work on this, but I had to take my mind off of schoolwork for a little while and sort of started doodling earlier. ;9 It didn't take that long anyways, I mostly just drew this to play around with skin coloring methods. :p The drawing and coloring is a little sloppy, but I might like to work more with skin shading like this.

Is it the eyes? o:

All of my character faces have looked off lately ;____; I free-styled this one, so I kinda expected something to be off - too lazy to use a base ahhh

Oh I was talking about the newer pic o.o

The eyes on that one do look pretty bad... I'm gonna be self-critical and say I'm not super proud of that one. ;(
