Up until May 2010, RMRK had a long-running tradition of recognizing a Project of the Month (http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,15623.0.html). While there were a number of reasons for retiring that system, it was never for a lack of excellent projects; RMRK has been around since RM2k3 and has a long history of being home to some of the most distingushed and talented amateur game designers in the RM World. It is once again time to shine a light on the talent of these individuals by recognizing, celebrating, and encouraging these game makers, while at the same time giving beginners example projects to which they can aspire. For these reasons, I present the new Project of the Season award! For more details on the award and how candidates are chosen, please see the main topic (http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,40140.0.html).

Without further ado, the candidates for Project of the Season 2010 are:

:rmxp:Eternal Grace (http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,39861.0.html), by jasprelao

An RPG with tons of custom resources, the story revolves around an organization named SOFRA and their attempts to rejuvenate a dying world. See the topic for more details and to play the demo.

:rmvx:Fairytale (http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,34649.0.html), by JoRu

An RPG with dark themes and a focus on gameplay, Fairytale follows the story of a young woman attempting to escape from her wicked granduncle. Check out the topic to see the gorgeous screenshots and for more details about the game.

:rmxp:Fall of the Living: First Outbreak (http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,31669.0.html), by Chainsaw Melody

Set in the beginning of a Zombie Apocalypse, this game is a survival horror with elements of the Action, Adventure, and RPG genres. It features an advanced ABS and impressive custom resources. Check out the topic for more details.

:rmxp:Planeswalker (http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,35479.0.html), by NAMKCOR

Created in one week for the GIAW competition (which it won), this game delivers a clever storyline with a gorgeous atmosphere and a number of interesting and unique features. Check out the topic to play the full game.

:rmvx:World's Dawn (http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,39481.0.html), by Sagitar

This is a simulation game which "concentrates on aesthetic imagination, addictive, open-ended gameplay, and innovation through dozens of original evented systems." It features amazing custom artwork and bears some gameplay similarity to series such as Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing.

I think I'll change the deadline for this poll to October 1. Is that OK with everyone?

That's fine. It's a project of the season after all, much bigger timeframe.

Only one more week for voting everyone!

Remember: if the project you want doesn't win this time, it won't have another chance until Winter. So vote!

And the winner is World's Dawn (http://rmrk.net/index.php/topic,39481.0.html), by an extremely close margin. Thanks for voting everybody!
