After much fiddling (and waiting), search is now restored for all regular members. Note, the search form at the top for now still uses google custom search. Use the search link in the main menu to use the inbuilt search.
If you want to help, you could test it out. Possibly try obscure words / phrases that you know exist on RMRK and would be otherwise hard to find. Share how many results you got (if it was expected) and how long it took (displayed at the bottom of the page).
Currently searching is still disabled for guests. Seeing how this works so far first =o
This thing is a beast. Space used to index messages in the database: 365,162.57 KB

I searched "why is girls" looking for Zeriab's post in it, got 13 results and the topic itself came up first. It took .14 seconds.

Search re-enabled for guests, but guests must pass a CAPTCHA test to search.

The built in search engine, accessed by clicking search in the menu (http://rmrk.net/index.php?action=search). The form in the header still uses google custom search.

Oh. That's dumb.
-
It's dumber to set the main search as it when you're still trying to see if all of the bugs are worked out.
Anyways, I've found no problems so far.

Searched BAWWW Pirates looking for BDMarvel's topic, got one result, which was the topic. Page created in 0.691 seconds (I was downloading something, so yeah).
That's good right?
-
No, it needs to be .001 seconds shorter.

I thought Page Created was solely on the server's end? Or am I a misguided fool?
Also, took me 1.9 seconds for Borthday.
