Title: Is it even possible...
Post by: Kokowam on May 12, 2009, 01:21:16 AM: For your guitar to be the cause of broken strings? So far, an E-string from an set of Elixir strings broke within a month. Now, a new set. G-string breaks in a week. Is a guitar able to be the cause of this?

I'm not over-tightening. I always tune down but I never tune above standard. Why would I? >_> I have a capo. ALSO, IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE FREAKIN' WEATHER. Musta been really cold or w/e because it became out of tune and then yeah. But the strings, especially since they're new, should have been able to handle a bit.

Yeah, basically the hole where you slide the string into the tuner.

But honestly, you could just be tuning it incorrectly. I had that problem for a while...*stares off into space*

Yeah, that's what I meant. :P And I'll talk to my dad about taking it into a guitar shop somewhere.

Take it to a guitar shop and have them put the strings on and see if they break. If they do, go to a guitar maker/repair and have him take a look.
You could try a different brand...but it's unlikely that that's the cause.

You could try a piece of highish grit sand paper, high grit shouldn't cosmetically damage or do damage to the guitar. Just enough to make it slightly round. I wouldn't do it though, it's always better to have a pro do it not to mention cheaper than a new guitar.
