Click on the link provided, type in the three letters on the screen, and choose free or premium. When the download finishes, open the .RAR file, open the copy of slash bulk folder, and run RPG_RT.exe.
This is a one-dungeon demo of the game I've been creating for the past several months. I chose this dungeon because I consider it to be the best so suffice it to say, if you don't like it, then you probably won't like the rest of the game.
You don't really need to know the plot to enjoy the demo, so I'll spare you the game story until I release the finished product. Have fun with that!

OK, changed my mind. Here are a few spoilers.
The game is set in a fictional medieval continent called Beloa. Several years have passed since the Eighth War in which the king (who was then a commander) enjoyed countless victories. Peace was believed to have returned to his land. Until recently...
The Lanthanides, an evil faction ruled by a crazed megalomaniac, are rumoured to have been sighted in the mountains and as Maxon, you have been summoned by the king to get to the bottom of it. The plot soon thickens however, and Maxon and co. soon find themselves in the middle of a struggle for the future of mankind itself...

Although you wouldn't know from the pics, I didn't use a side-on battle system because I'm using RM2K. Plus, I only used the RTP chipsets in the game, so if you refuse to play anything that uses the RTP chipsets, you have been warned. Thirdly, this is an older version of the cave, therefore the final product will have subtle differences.

OK, I've been thinking about some of the stuff you said, and here's my take on it.
I have no idea how long you've been making games, but the way you talk about mine you appear to be some "expert" on the subject. That is, you would appear to be one to me, had I not played your very own effort, "The Insanity". Don't get me wrong, it's polished and stuff (probably due to it having been created with superior software) and I like the strategy warfare combat system, but if you ask me the most off-putting thing you can have in a game (particularly an RPG where you have to load your game every time you die) is an overly-difficult first battle. I tried that battle three times, and got my ass handed to me each time. And I don't suck at games.
If you had actually downloaded my demo, you would have realised the maps weren't square (just because the standard form for posting your products here boils down to three screenshots doesn't mean you can tell everything about the game from them), the overall map design is actually quite sound, and that you were an idiot to slag off something you've never played before. But it's too late for that. Your loss.

How do I know that? I know what you've shown me, and what you've shown me is square and empty, and doesn't make me think you'll map anything better than that.
If you have better maps then show more screenshots, show diversity, show that your game is more than linear square mapping and blank empty dungeons.
First impressions and screenshots are EVERYTHING.
EVERYONE will shrug off your game if the screenshots are crap.

Every game I see posted here has a ton of generic history about the main characters. I, personally, do not have time for that. Remember games like Legend of Zelda (which, when all’s said and done, is more akin to the type of game you are gonna produce with this software than current games)? What exactly did you know about Link? All I can remember, since I had the manual for Zelda 2, is some cobbled-together trash of a storyline (that didn’t all fit with the game) that was read once, then forgotten.

you most likely didn't include the drivers or the resources you used, with the demo.
RM2k isn't often used on this forum, therefore most people (read 95%) probably don't have the RM2k RTP or drivers.
solution: put them in yourself, then re-upload the demo.
People shouldn't be expected to download and install a Run Time Package that they will never use, just to play your game.
also: don't automatically assume the end-user did something wrong. That's what microsoft does and nobody likes them. First see if it's a problem on your end, or if the program was packaged improperly. Never say "maybe you're doing something wrong"

I downloaded teh game after uploading it, it worked. So obviously if it doesn't work for someone else, they're missing the RTP. Whatever, I'll re-upload it with the RTP. Not like anyone's gonna play it anyway.

Sorry for coming across as a dick, but Crusader of Centy had similarly unrealistic maps and so did a lot of older games in fact. I could have filled the bitch with tons of stuff but at the end of the day the dungeon takes a good hour to finish and I think that's a lot already. Considering it's one of many. EDIT: Vista does support RM2K. I know this because I use RM2K on a Vista-running PC.
EDIT: Feck it, I'll include the whole game (everything done so far) in the demo, at least that way you're getting something for your bandwidth.

When you post screenshots, why would they need to play your game to criticize the screenshots? One would naturally assume that the poster of the topic will take shots of the best looking maps of the game to draw attention towards his/her project, and if the screenshots look terrible, thus the rest of the game must look worse.

Because they show how little effort you put in your maps. Im going to try to be polite about how your mapping can be improved, so you don't run over me for being un-polite aswell, since most of the guys here tried to help you, but you simply ignored their words to improve your game.
First of all, as probably everyone else had said, your maps are square and empty. Take a look outside. How many things outside are square? How empty is nature? You need to think realistic when you map. Right now, your maps are far from realistic.

Apparently the shots tell people what little effort I put into my "maps". The guy actually used the plural. How do two screenshots of one map tell people how much effort I put into the other 37?
You made it, meaning that you of course think it's great. It's your own work. However, your screenshots are crap, therefore your game looks like crap. If the other 37 maps are better, how about posting some screenshots of THOSE maps as well? It 's a 3 screenshot MINIMUM, not 3 screenshots, no more no less.

this all started because I criticized your game and told you why people most likely ignored your game, and you just flipped out out of nowhere. This isn't a personal witch hunt, this is the truth. Your mapping is horrid.
Unless these screen shots I've seen aren't from your game at all, then I've seen your mapping skill. And it is SUB PAR. People judge games based on the media produced for it. Screenshots, Trailers, the information in magazines. Nobody buys a game or rents a game or downloads a game without knowing SOMETHING about it, and knowing that it LOOKS GOOD. If you do, you're obviously an idiot that enjoys wasting his time and money.

I see a few mapping errors in the top one, it is very square and repetitive.
the bottom one is just weird, snow with sand and rain and grass with water? Again it is all very organized, linear, and square, not very much like nature at all.
