Title: Urgo's Chasm [Demo V.2]
Post by: Forty on June 08, 2008, 01:09:26 AM
Urgo's Chasm

Remember the dungeon crawlers of old? The good day when you would spend hours leveling up your characters?
Want to have the same experience again? Now you can!

Story:
Spoiler for:
Once upon a time, a quiet little town came across a powerful wizard named Uriah.

He was regarded as a great man, and we respected his opinions. He was promoted to Chief Elder.

The other elders became wary of him and his immediate rise to power.

He directed to build underground as a safety measure. We did so and soon enough we found gold.

He then told us to stop building and to instead mine for the gold.

As we mined deep into the earth, Uriah's plan was coming together.

He sacrificed all the gold to allow the god of chaos, Urgo, to inhabit the mines.

It took a lot of man power to seal him to the deepest depths of the mines.

His presence allowed monsters to form beneath the surface.

His monster force has become so powerful, that it is a serious threat to humanity.

And to this day, brave men go down to slay Urgo and few have survived, none have suceeded.

You, a Warrior, get to choose one of many people to accompany you through the dungeon

You seem to have forgotten to put a teleport event for the bank building.
Other than that, seems good so far.

*continues playing*

I haven't completed the bank, it's the one town building I left off for later.

EDIT: I would very much enjoy it if someone could give me:
A Game Logo,
A Title Screen,
And preferably a new window skin.

If you are interested in making either, PM me.

I'll get to the bank :X
And I'll do more characters later, right now, I want to focus on the dungeon.

I could probably make something for your logo/title screen.  ;8
What sort do you want, Forcysturgeon?

This looks really good. I loved the class recruitment.

It was hard too choose (as a suggestion, maybe give a description of the class before recruiting). I went with a mage, a knight, and a prophetess. The dungeon was ok, but I wasted my Sanctuary Scroll right away. ;9

Keep it up.

I added class descriptions to first post.

Plus, if you don't like who you got, I plan on placing more Recruitment Tickets all over the dungeon.
There are two on the first floor, but one is invisible.

I could probably make something for your logo/title screen.  ;8
What sort do you want, Forcysturgeon?

Errm...
Maybe like something dark, where there are a couple of heros looking into a long hallway.
And for the logo, be creative, as long as it is kinda dark looking.

EDIT: If someone has some good dungeon music, please notify me.

Looks good. The one thing that bugs me is that the main character looks like an old guy, but the guards call him "kid". ???

Also, is this supposed to be walkable?

oops, that shouldn't be walkable. ( I see you fell in a pit there :P)

And do you remember which guard it was?
Because  the main character was a kid, but I changed him to an old man.

There was more than one.
*In front of the entrance to the chasm, the guard at the top right of the 4 guards.
*In the chasm entrance, the guard to the right of the ladder.
I see you fell in a pit there :P
Lol, yea.

Ok, you'll see the fixes when the next demo comes out.

Any other comments, suggestions?

It was neat, the town was a bit sloppy, and I like to always have some "enviromental interaction".
Like a event on a old worn down box, you go to it, click. "You find a potion" in the box.
Things like that, where you interact with you're enviroment.
For you're game, I picked a Assasin, Knight and Mage. I was in the dungeon, and I wanted the chest so bad I stepped on the spikes. It killed one of my people, and I stepped on it again :P. And everyone died. I think the spikes shouldn't be so deadly. And after that, I didn't bother to play the rest. I liked the story outline.

Your not supposed to keep stepping on something that will kill you ._.

And it does the same amount of damage each time.
I also thought it would have been really time consuming to put a "It's empty" event on so many things, but it looks like I should anyway.
