As we can see from the exhibits, apparently anything can be twisted enough to justify a religious rather than scientific or logical reason for something.

The really depressing part is now we'll have another generation of kids having their minds polluted by nonsense of dinosaurs living with man and the Earth being only a few thousand years old. I guess being oblivious to reality is the easiest way of getting through life.

[edit] I read the article again. I love that third picture on the first page that states "Present changes are too small and too slow to explain these differences, suggesting God provided organisms with special tools to change rapidly."

YES! Because nothing that we're directly looking at in the past few hundred years or so isn't showing massive steps in evolution, that's surely undeniable evidence that that it couldn't have ever possibly happened in the past 4.5 Billion (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_the_earth) years? :/

While I agree on principle that we should weed out the "dumb shits", not all religious people can be blanketed under this category, nor athiests excluded.

A religous person who keeps their beliefs fairly quiet, perhaps will share them but not zealously, is fine by me. I can even lend them an ear to hear their beliefs and theories, and can say at the end of the day it was interesting.

Religious people can be zealous idiots just as much as athiests can, who protests outside churches and try to convert believers to their firm, scientific, disbelief. In the scientific community, let facts speak for themselves. In religious communities, let freedom of thought reign.

Also haha @ museum. The truly sad part is that people were willing to part with all the money for this museum, and that people get excited about it and visit it and believe all that bullshit. I don't waste my time getting angry about this like some of you others, don't see a need to. These Christians are weak, you can tell in their actions and dialogues. The next generation, although today highly impressionable, will soon see this as well (or at least, a good deal of them).

I'm semi-religious. I pray and talk to God and all that. Hehe lol I'm Christain but I don't push beliefs on other people. I also believe in creation and evolution and the Big bang and all that. I think they have common ground. People always keep them separate but I think they should go along with each other. That museum seems interesting but I never go to museums much...prolly only been to like five or six. One major one I think. lol Like you said this could be a problem for the next generation. Who knows? But it's likely. Oh God what is the world coming to?

Heh, I though EXACTLY the same as you. They shouldn't be separated but both the religious viewpoint and the sci-un-tifical viewpoint should be combined. They go hand in hand when you put some thought into it, and the next generation will without doubt be... misguided... but I don't think all of it will be, just a part.

Egh, I just started watching some clips on the creationist museum (didn't see this thread when it was made) and I have this horrid sinking feeling in my chest. This is literally evil and corrupted. Sickening...

This is nothing short of a brainwashing facility; because creationists can't compete on a scientific level they resort to using America's pathetic town controlled schooling system using pleas to emotions NOT scientific evidence. I did not think they would resort to using such upfront manipulation of the ignorant masses.

I heard a statistic of what the US people think about science: Only a quarter accept evolution as fact and are growing increasingly more detached to the ideas brought by the scientific community. You say religion isn't causing damage? This is going to be more damaging to the next American generation then most propaganda could dream of.

This is an actual quote from a person (Christian) who didn't know whether to believe in evolution or creationism AFTER he visited the museum "Well sure you can prove evolution scientifically and you can't with the bible, but any thing that's created, must have a creator. That's just common sense.".

I believe in a god, but I don't believe in the bible so much.

For example the video I just posted, one of the King James edited the bible to include witchcraft and sorcery, it's original meaning was con artist, not wizards and witchs... But...
As you can see, not many people are aware of that change and never changed it back. So crazy bitchs like the above link are ignorant.

Also, Christianity is a belief, not a religion.

Also, I believe in evolution.

And DSaucy, I agree with you on the brainwashing thing, and propaganda and such. But it's not just religion.

Scientology, in my opinion, is not a religion, but a cult. I think america recognises scientology as a religion, though some countries don't (I know germany doesn't, for example).
