well you a. download
b. open up the game and either talk to the npc or push Q to see how it works
and c. open the game project to see how it was done with events
d. if you have questions even though all the event commands used are right there for you to stare at, ask me ~_~

You really need to stop this. Lay of people who haven't figured things out for themselves. They post here for help, not to be insulted.

I know how you can fix it if you want to chose character in the start.
But I can't really figure out how to make same thing work at the INNs.

The part of "set, HP, MP, AGI, STR" etc etc.
Wouldn't work here... I think

:O_o: xcuse my shock of being shocked from you not being able to get it to work
you do have p.knights edition of rmxp right?
dray... my siggy= use the search button , like i said i posted it 3 times this week

anyways here is a shorten version of what to do:

a. define not working (download, opening the file, the demo itself or the way you recreated it, with additional explaining if it's not the download itself >>)
b. if it's not something obvious i'll just put screenies of the event and add a few things and that should do it ~_~ (i hope)
(but for now i am really lazy and i really hope you mean the dl doesn't work or you just lack p.knights edition which you should dl )

it works to perfection ~_~
i don't know what mega and z managed to do to it for you...

slight warning, the next file gonna be a little 200kb, your problem.
here is the event:

build something like that in your inn or anywhere else, condition each hero that you can't have from the start using extra switches.

don't tell me you don't understand the event, tell me what in the event you do not understand ~_~

Post by: blueXx on February 15, 2006, 07:47:42 PM
(blue is getting annoyed)
now how could i copy/paste it?
get your ass to rmxp, make 1 of those lines and see if you can copy paste it into phpbb Xx

(blue go ><)
and as for the downloads
try to redl them from both sites see if it will work, if not then you just got a sick little pc.

use conditional branches and such ~_~
it's all in event commands...
you really need to read some tutorials , go to tutorial databse section and read a bit

Dude... An event is up by the layers on the tool bar it looks like a grey box thing... the best way to learn is by mucking about with the editor...

Try this video Tutorial...
http://files.filefront.com/Zxmelee_Maps_and_Eventswmv/;4260702;;/fileinfo.html[/b]
its by Zxmelee... its a very good Tutorial !!!

Actually download all of em... it seems you may need em !!!

Its hard to Know what you mean... Now / Know... issues...

I thought you ment Now you need to learn Events... Not that you Know events...   Sorry M8y !!

The thing I don't get is how the event keeps hold of what level you CHAR are on... when I followed it word for word when re-recruiting they start on Level one again... Not sure if there is some scripting behind it... I am a GUI kinda guy... I hate coding...

So is that what you mean ?... (Will it work with out some level of scripting done behind the background)...

What I tend to do is set switches through out the game, and make the same Chars at different levels... then when you get to certain points when recruiting again you get a near-enough version of your char back...

I also notice when Re-recruiting the Char looses all their stuff... So I also make switches to counter this prob... But I am sure there is an easyer way... cuz the download seems to retain every thing ???

You just uncheck the initialize button

Oh my God... I am such a Gimp... I missed that little tick box...

If only all problems are that simple to fix.... I feel so silly right now !!!

It happens to even the best of us.

I mean, it happened even to blueXx

Anyway is it working carnage1989?
Title: Swaping Chara's?
Post by: blueXx on February 16, 2006, 06:36:05 PM
Oo i thought i was careful... *rechecks* so it seems it was...
the initialize is not marked
even if it was marked.. it's not like you are going to copy paste it entirely.. right?

LoS
if you want them to "train" as you level up your other party then when the event starts , where the which heroes are in the party thing is checked add
variable totalLevel: +heroX level

then make a new variable to store the amount of players in the party
and do variable(avgLevel) = totalLevel/partymembers

if a hero is being added then put set level: heroX - avgLevel

and that should do it
it helps makes the training easier but at times it seems a bit not realistic...
(you leave them in the inn, you go back after 0.2sec with some leverl 999 guy you found and they suddnely leveled 500 levels or something Oo)

I should have made it more clear.
While I said it happened to you, I didn't mean the event you mentioned. It was sometime before.
I see no error in your event. It seems fine as it is.

The Switches and triggers in my new game are going to be in a certain area... a Fairy or witch will make a monster appear, and depending on how strong you are (Average level) depends on the monster and when you beat it your Party will level out in XP points... so it means defending the weaker party members and keeping them alive to gain the EXP...

But thanks BlueXx... I did not realize I could do it that way... I may mix the two idea's together to get the result I want !!

well like that without conditioning the existance of a hero, doing 10 at a time took me about an hour

i assume that if you start with 5-6 and then add a conditioned hero each time you "find" a new hero it shouldn't take very much longer
but some events take a long time to write, but they make the game better and you only need to do it once
