Enterbrain:
Pros:
100% in english...

Cons:
60 dollars after 30 day trial

Knights:
Pros:
Free

Cons:
Around 30% in jap...

Same:
They all have the basics down... its basically just if you want to pay for it or not...

(feel free to add more, who ever is on...)

You forgot the best reason to get PK, teh Arshes! ZOMG I WUB ARSHES!

Actually it's best to get PK because RM isn't worth the 60 bucks. It's a cute lil tool, but not nearly worth 60 bucks.

A Hybrid
Title: Re: postality knights or enterbrains??
Post by: Tsunokiette on December 29, 2006, 11:20:31 PM
There are some who own this "hybrid". Though it's even more illegal than the PK version.

EDIT : Though I can't act like I havn't broken these laws before, I believe there was someone I helped obtain a liscence... *cough*
Title: Re: postality knights or enterbrains??
Post by: Zeriab on December 30, 2006, 03:42:44 AM
Lol, more illegal than PK.
I thought that stuff either was illegal or legal. Apparently there must be some gray zone stuff.

You talk as if there only is one hybrid. I guess it means the existence of one quite popular hybrid.
My foundations for mentioning a hybrid was more theoretical and not very practical.
A hybrid from the though of combining the strengths of the to versions and discarding their weaknesses.

Me™ pretty much covered it all.
Well the official version also have cons like too little Show Message and Call Script box, which I think is fixed in the PK version.
I think PK Knights crashes if you try to make a conditional branch check the party's gold.

Maybe you can copy between the two program. (Have them open at the same time.)

Erm.. a Hybrid like.. The Legal Version Patched? I have that...  ;8

In the English version you can still have 4 lines usign the batch entry, and if you need so much space in a call script, your better of with the script editor. Jup.
Title: Re: postality knights or enterbrains??
Post by: raitolight on December 31, 2006, 01:12:16 PM
i dont get how is 40% translated, the one i have is fully translated.
Title: Re: postality knights or enterbrains??
Post by: feildmaster on December 31, 2006, 05:09:28 PM
you probably have the actual version...
and if you don't... look in the script section. and when you do / it comes out a yen symbol(for making messages)... and when u create game disk, its 80% jap considering 20% as your file names...

mine says 2.0 enhanced and the hp of an enemy can go up to 999,999. is there bugs in that version?

Im on V.2 aswell, the only problem i ever get is the jp help files and occasionally it corrupts my .rxproj file. Its very annoying  :'(

Get the Dyna Edition. It's rare, but definitely the best. I still regret changing to the legal one. :(
The only disadvantage of the Dyna Editon is that it's also a lot of Japanese there. If I only could get the RPGXP.exe of the Dyna Edition I can create a cracked version that actually works. It would even have an improved Scripts.rxdata that doesn't have the lag during message windows and/or event-forced animations during battle.

Seriously, what advantages are there over the legit version? People say it's "enhanced" and superior, but I see few improvements.

I have 1.02 official  one and PK edition and
Pk has --
Translations in events menu
Events menu has no spaces between some event option.

1.02
Spaces between some events
Wait for move's completion command

But that's all i can see in difference.

I prefer the Postality Knights Edition over the Enterbrain version. PK edition has more features in the actual program, such as the message preview option (if this is in the legal version, please let me know, but I don't remember it). Of course, I do have my complaints.

I had the legal version, but for some reason you need an internet connection to use it (I have rpg maker on my own internetless comp.) its unable to double check your serial online or something retarded.  Maybe this is just me... but thats why i use pk.

I was wondering if the two versions are compatible, like can u open pk games in enter brain and vice versa?  And when a game is finished can people tell the difference between pk and enterbrains?
Title: Re: postality knights or enterbrains??

well i know that anything in PK can be opened with enterbrains but I'm not sure about the other way around, Because I'm working on a game that i started with PK

Bull. It is in th legal version, plus what other features are there more in the PK version? Untranslated Japanese comments? Nice Feature!

Yeah! It wasent called enhanced because it was better, bnut because it was the second translation...

The only thing I do not like in the legal version is the work around for four lines of tekst in the message box!

Nope. The only way to fix it is by hacking the editor.

No you dont have to hack anything, I know of a script that will do this and works. Remember the scripts you make over-right the default setting.
Title: Re: postality knights or enterbrains??
Post by: Me™ on January 29, 2007, 07:47:13 PM
You don't seem to understand. The 4 lines of code in a meesage WORKS, but you can not ENTER them with the normal Message Command. You have to use BATCH ENTRY. it has NOTHING to do with SCRIPTS but everything to do with the EDITOR.  ;8
Title: Re: postality knights or enterbrains??
Post by: Narkidin on January 29, 2007, 07:57:30 PM
Im not explaining it to Newbies there are SCRIPTS that can increase the TEXT/MEESSAGES box with more then four lines. In fact Dubs has one on his site.
Title: Re: postality knights or enterbrains??
Post by: Me™ on January 31, 2007, 02:44:15 PM
First of all, I am defintly not a newbie, you are here the one that does not understand what I said. If you would just have read my messages properly, you would have known that we where not talking to extend the message box to more then 4 lines. Postality Knights and the legal Japanse version had an option with you could fill the message box up to four lines by default. In the legal English version, the box is like 5 pixels too small (the INPUT box in the ediotr, not ingame) to fit the fourth line. To solve this, one can use the batch entry.

I am quite sure that anyone that participated in that discussion is aware that we could have extended the message box with scripts, but again.. that was not our point.

Never call me newbie again, especially not when you don't even take the time to read what I and these people write.

I like the Enterbrain version.

The only thing I don't like about it is that some of the windows aren't as large, but there are ways to deal with it.

I have both PK and Enterbrains. In the first scene of my game something happaend and it started freezing up after thsi one message in PK. the same scene never froze on Enterbrains. I must of re-did that scene 30 times and its still freezes after a message. nothing i did fixed it. I deleated the entire even and made a new one from scratch, it would get buggy and freeze up too. the same even works fine in Enterbrains. but my free-trial has five days left and so im kind of fucked. I was wondering if anyone on here has the offical english version, only patched so that it dosnt run out in 30 days can you tell me where to find it or send me a copy of yours? Is there any rmxp thats better then PK except its free? if so please direct me to it. Thanks - PhoeiX

You are using a auto-starting event, right? Use an "Erase Event" command at the end and it shouldn't freeze anymore.

If I had to chose between Enterbrain's or PK again, I think I'd choose Enterbrain again.  I'm pretty much useless in some areas of the program if I don't have a Help file that is translated.  But the Free-ness of PK was very tempting.
Title: Re: postality knights or enterbrains??

With PK, you can't get into the scripts uploaded in game format. It really ehhhhs me, and I wish there was a way to fix it... besides paying sixty bucks for the actual program. (Don't get me wrong, I'd drop money on RMXP, but just not sixty.)

I didn't use a keygen, you can just aswell download a PsiKey.dll that's already activated. No need to go through the keygen and possibly destroy your comp.

Interesting question, kids.
I started with postality to learn a bit more of about it, and ended liking it so i bought the original from Enterbrain for 60 bucks.
Thing is, You HAVE to have the original if you're planning on selling your game.
If your game is crap or you're just toying around with RMXP, then get PK and save your bucks.
About the 4 lines text limitation: even if the original version and PK games are incompatible, if you turn on both and copy a ten line txt dialogue from the PK editor and paste it into the Legal version, it works  ;D
I fixed my special "hability meditor" event with this trick :D

Even doing that could possibly destroy your comp, it could be encrypted with a virus. Run RPGMaker and boom.

Post by: kram1024 on June 24, 2010, 11:29:17 PM
I have just hacked postality knights edition 2.0 to make it 100% english and made an updater.  my PKE hack uses Arial (used a resource editor for that change) for the editor font (no yen symbols), uses RGSS102E.DLL (hex edited the editor exe file and made replaces),  uses english version graphics (replaced rtp files), and has updated scripts (replaced all rxdata files with legal version rxdata files).  I have even tested it.  New projects set the dll file to RGSS102E.DLL as they should, but the interface is still Postality Knights Edition, since I made such a change to the program, I dubbed it RPG Maker 1.02 - Postality Knights Edition 2.1.

I am just looking for a place to upload the updater program.  Otherwise sorry for the bump, just wanted to provide an update.

put "Jj" into a messagebox without crashing in a test program.  still needs a strange hack to the project files made by rpg maker xp v1.0.2 to use the same identification as pke replace in the project files: "RMXP 1.02" with "RMXP 1.01" and they will fully function as they do in the enterbrain version.  Anything else need testing?
