Hey guys. I've just started to play around with RPG maker XP. I was hoping to run my idea past a few of you. Its called The Forgotten Seas. I'm making the first one really just to see if i can. But i have a much longer story in my head. well, the post below is what I have so far, theres a few typo's but I'll fix those later..
if anyone feels like joining in on this one, that would be awesome. I think i'm onto a winning story line at the moment, since the first version of this post i'd changed a few things here and there. Thought of some new story archs and more characters.
So, if anyone feels like grouping together to make this one happen, i could sure do with the help.
I could do with people to work on Mapping, Scripting & Character Design.

Story Outline
Ok, the world which the story is set is mostly covered by vast oceans and island chains. The two major powers are The Order and The Monastery. Not much is known about the order, other than they are knights of great power and stealth, and have a special mission which no one outside of The Order is eligable to know. The Monastery is a massive religious power in the part of the world that the story takes place. Not all of thier teachings are nessicarily for the benefit of the people. Priests of the Monastery have the ability to use 'Magik'. It is believed this is thier blessing for leading lives devoted to the 'Over God'.
The world is still being discovered, and certain parts are not yet fully explored.
The main character (Sebastian) intends on Joining The Order, but he faces truble and many challenges on the way.
I think I've left enough room for a few story arch's in this one, and as i write the whole story, i'm sure i'll add a few.

History: Was found (as an infant) in a shipwreck just off the coast of a small island called Dela Sol by the outcaste Priest Shamus Loire. Considers Shamus his father, and uses his surname Loire as a sign of respect to him. He dreams of joining the Order. He has wanted this since he was a child and first read of them in one of Shamus's books. He has trained with sword and bow ever since. Often runs errands for Shamus on other islands.

History: Was born and raised on Shima Tentei, and happily spent his life in the service of the 'Over God'. However, one day he discovered an injustice that made him question the elders of the monastery. He was trialled and asked to leave the island, never to return. After a few months of ship work, he settled on a small uninhabited island off the coast of Tohito. He named the island Dela Sol, which in the ancient language of the monastery elders translates to 'The New Path'.

History: At the age of 5 Kiyoshi was kidnapped from his family home and raised on a pirate vessel heading for the new world. The vessel returned 8 years later in almost irreparable condition. The captain of the vessel abandoned Kiyoshi in Malamesh, the place from where he was kidnapped. He has spent the last few years learning the ways of the street, making money where he can, legally or illegally. Holds no resentment towards the unfortunate conditions of his life, but secretly wishes for an escape from his life of crime.

History: Daughter of a successful fisherman in Tohito. Has known Sebastian for 3 years now, and has secretly harboured feelings for him since they first met. They first met when he came to the island to trade. She is a high classed martial art but has never had to use her skills in actual combat. She has spent her entire life on Tohito and wants nothing more than to spread her wings and see the world.

History: The High Priest is a role given only to the most worthy. Liarui was born on Shima Tentei and has never left the island once. He has dedicated his life to learn the skills of Magik and upholds the teachings of the 'Over God' no matter what price or consequence. He is rarely seen in public as he spends the majority of his time in deep meditation or administrating the monastery. It was Liarui who personally exiled Shamus from Shima Tentei.
William Lian

History: Personally handed the assignment of tracking down, and stopping Sebastian and his crew at any cost, by Liarui. William has been working his way up through the ranks of The Monastery's naval fleet since the age of 12. He is extremely loyal to the High priest. Has a personally vendetta to settle with Kiyoshi.

The Islands
Dela Sol -
A small island, a few miles off the coast of Tohito. The only occupants are Shamus & Sebastian. After years of labour, using only beach wood and what the tide brings in, they have built a comfortable home for themselves on the island.
Tohito -
This island is known for its majoring trading port.
Malamesh -
This island is known for being a Pirate haven. Lots of people looking for work on ships.
Shima Tentei –
Known to many simply as 'The Island That God Built', this island houses a gigantic monastery. In the monastery's centre is a shine dedicated to the 'Over God'. Other smaller shines for the 'Under Gods' are spread evenly around the outside of the monastery's walls. Also home to the monastery's naval base Port Phoenix.
Insula of Victus (The Island of the Living) -
Insula of Silenti (The Island of the Dead) -
These islands where once home to a great civilisation. The twin islands where united under one banner, Atlantis. However, the people of this great nation grew greedy and tried to take the power of the sea for themselves. After a great war with Poseidon, only one of the two islands was forgiven, creating the island of the Living and The Island of the dead.
The Fortress of the Order -
The hidden fortress island that some believe to be a myth. This island is home to the well know, yet secretive group known as The Order.
The Cavern of Ice -

The Chamber of Spirit -
The resting place of all the members of The Order who are now deceased, but in this place, their spirits live on and commune with the living, however, only those of The Order may enter. All those who have completed the trials must go here and be accepted by the forefathers of The Order.

A vessel that was smashed by a terrifying storm somewhere near Dela Sol. It was in this Ship wreck that Shamus found Sebastian.
The Redemption -
The ship that carried Shamus from Shima Tentei after his sentence of exile had been decided. It was this ship that discovered the wreckage of The Pilgrim.
The Mad Friday -
A Piarte vessel of unknown origin. Kiyoshi was raised in slavery aboard this ship until he managed to leave at the age of 13.

yea, looks cool soo far. Interesting Island idea. SO will we use boats to go island to island? and most likely each will have their own twist to the story. Also when you can, add some screenshots of the game. They can really attract people
Well, so far i'm still working out how to use RPG Maker. Apprently I have the latest version, i'll get my head around it eventually.
Well, for the island to island thing. I was thinking, a small sailboat at first, then later on, a ship. Which may hold some sway in the story itself.
My idea at the moment would be to turn the church into the bad guys. maybe they goto war with The Order. I have the basic idea in my head. Just need to work it out on paper.
The islands, yeah, I was thinking about the game story as I came up with them. Start at Dela Sol, finish at The Protected Place, which I'm thinking will be the final battle.
Insula of Victus & Insula of Sileti I put in purely because I love contrast in a story and I wanted to work that in some how. Same with the two younger male characters, Sebastian & Kiyoshi. Both orphaned (technically) but have lived drastically different lives.
maybe some twists, like your boat gets stolen or soemthing would be cool, so on the island you find the magical person who will teleport you
Yeah, i like the idea of having to recover the ship. I was thinking of mixing the idea of pirates into the mix as well. but at the same time, its already starting to sound way to much like FFX. Well, added a few screenshots like you suggested. Nothing spectacular though.
Looks nice! (This time I've read more than 1/2 of a project post people!)
The beach screenie needs more flora and the trees should be spread more randomly, but aside from that everything looks in place!
