Lol, why am I the one always asking questions....
Anyway, example, I go downstairs to see my mom, we have a conversation that I only want to happen once in the game (in my case it's a tutorial battle). How can I get rid of this event permanantly without making a mom double?
You could use a switch, variable, or a local switch. That's normally how you prevent things from happening multiple times...
Also, you might want to search for some tuts on switches, due to the usefullness.
after the chat have switch one (or whatever is open) turn on, then have a new page under the same event, and have it be blank, but turn on when switch one is on....get it?
Um, isn't that a cutscene?
Wait I didn't explain. What I mean is let's ay you want a convo only to happen once. Then lets say after before you go out of the place or building you talk to the person again. I don't wanmt the dude to do the same thing so....
Ex.
Hey can you get (insert something) this for me?
Yes
No
Yes.
Great!
Go take a few steps without going into another area....
Then you talk again but instead you want the dude to say, Hey have you the (insert something here) yet?
hey thats easy..lol here you go:
*wait for a min the photobucket is being gay*

Wow, I only just realised how much conditional branches confuse me sometimes. I'd have used switches for that one, haha.
Use switches.
Click on my sig. It will take you to a tutorial on switches.
Wow, no way.
I'll try it, I'm currently hoocked on DQVIII (Dragon Quest 8), lol.
k, post with results. If it dosen't go too well, reply and I will help.
Don't worry, it works. Thanks.
cool, glad I could help. ;D
anyways as I tell everyone please add [REOLVED] to your topic title, but leave it opened in case others have a question or comment.
You could just choose to "Erase Event" after the rest of the event in the event editing screen.
nevfx, no It was not was she was looking for..I think I suggusted something the same in my first reply. She wanted to have a conditional branch set up for finding an item.

that wouldn't work, as it would delete the person from the map. Also, when you re-entered the map, the NPC would re-appear.
(self)-switch X is on when you gave the potion.
Make a second page, and on pre-conditions (on the left upper of the window) set self switch X to on. Do not forget to set the graphic in the left-bottom part of the window on the second page ;)
