Please discuss the game Chrono Cross here... I hope you played the game with joy like I did, because to me it is the best game ever... With tears in my eyes I watched the "good" ending... Unbelievable
Anyway, tell me how you liked that game. Although it's an old time game.
It's not really that old... and I think it's extremely overrated. I liked Chrono Trigger way better, just couldn't get into this one.
However, the music is awesome.
The day 3-dimensional games are considered "old-time" is the day I revoke my status as a gamer.
I never had the opportunity to play Chrono Cross (no psx, heh), but it had Lucca make a cameo appearance and that makes it awesome by default.
Chrono Cross is pretty awesome. Been a long time since I've played it though...
I haven't played. Another title for my DL list I s'pose.
You should play Chrono trigger first (you don't need to) that is if you haven't.
I loved Chrono Trigger but I hated Chrono Cross. Cross had too much crap that contradicted Trigger.

What about Super Mario RPG? Technically, that was 3d, and it's about 10 years old.
I crushed trigger. AND smrpg, which was the best RPG I have ever played. (Pretty much.)
have never played either one....(feels bad)..
Well if you're a Chrono fan and you didn't play Cross, you really missed something in my opinion...
Not only is it awesome to meet old characters from CT again, but also the new story and characters are awesome.
I've played Chrono Cross a bit and I didn't like it too much. Although it has an interesting Battle System. Quite original.
I loved the music in that game... except the battle music...

Not really, it was just isometric with some super-high-def sprites. Landstalker used very similar platforming... although it skipped out on the high quality sprites...

But you could move along 3 axes of movement. up-right/down-left, up-left/down-right, and you could JUMP. That's 3 dimensions of movement right there, Yossy. 3-Dimensional. Primitive, perhaps, but still technically 3-dimensional.
And if you don't buy that ( :D ) what about Starfox?
I played Chrono Cross years ago. Never really got into it. But yeah, I'll agree that it has the best soundtrack of any video game ever.
I have to agree that it's not the best game ever.
But, once again, it has a great soundtrack. As I've mentioned before, I taught myself to play the flute by playing sheet music printed from the midis.
Also, while not the best, it has great playtime in it. After the first time through, you are ready to own any boss in the game, so it's not hard, the game actually becomes pretty easy. But you have *shifty* MULTIPLE ENDINGS. Just like Chrono Trigger. And you have the choice of completing the game at any point.
The initial story for CC was great. However, they didn't connect CT and CC like they should've. THey were extreemly weak in that department.
Ever heard of this (http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/)?
This is the music's true form (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2184973319978072435&q=chrono+cross&hl=en)!

oh yeah... I just can't get enough playing this over and over again ;D
I'll be sure to download that once I'm on a faster computer.
Man, I really need a PS1 emulator.
ps1 emulator's are all over google.

I loved this game so much. Music was awsome, so were the graphics.
The story, hwoever, could have been made a little easier to understand. I didn't like reading 20-25 boxes of text before the final boss just to summarize what happened in the story.
BUT....I still think Crono Trigger is the better game. It had a better story and all that. And...is was just more addicting and fun.

Yes, I know where to find them, but thank you anyway. As I said, I need to wait until I have access to a faster computer...
I agree with Lavata... CT is way addicting.
Chrono Trigger... absolutely a fantastic game...
Chrono Cross... another fantastic game. BUT... the only way I can accept it is by pretending it's not a Chrono Trigger sequel. It isn't. There are cameos, but rare, and not related. I've always felt it was an attempt to sell the game by associating it with the original. It definately stands on it's own.
It is definately a Chrono Trigger sequel, but it is in the greater universe. Set years in the future, the events that unfold do so for a reason that many people don't understand. The story is the best ever in a video game, because everything ties together eventually. For example, the reason Lynx took over Serge's body is because it is encoded in his DNA that he is the only one who can take the Frozen Flame. The reason for this was the power serge (hence his name) that shut FATE, the flame's guardian, down while the group was lost at sea in the pre-story. The frozen flame is actually a shard of Lavos. The Tesseract is the place where the dimensions that were averted go to, such as the "Day of Lavos". This is where Schala and Lavos and the Time Devourer all meld. It is a very complicated story, but once you work it out, you can see how genius it is. I would very much like to see a continuation of the story. If you are interested in working out the details of the Chrono Multiverse, I suggest reading this: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/196917/8657 (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/file/196917/8657) If you like the mythology of the games, this is well worth your time.
Chrono Cross is one of the coolest games ever
but I still like CT more.
I beat it like once for the negame+ ending, then went for the chrono talking ending, but I never finished it! DAMN ME!
I got to lavos and had maybe ten hits left on him...
What's your favorite team? For beating Lavos anyway...mine:
Robo: Named him Romo
Frog: Named him Frogg
Magus: Magus...
Fgor was the all round BEST character in CT. He could heal, use offensive spells well, and smack things hard. He had pretty good HP too if I remember right.
Also I think every one put frog and Magus on the smae team, you just HAVE to.
no, I always liked frog, because I first saw him when I was like really little, and I really liked him, a frog with a sword, like kermit only not fagalious. And Magus had the sweet spells, I didn't have internet at the time I beat it, so how the hell would I know what everyone else did. Anyway, and robo just stuck because he's cool.
Frog, Robo, Crono and Magus were godly. Any combination of the four is always a good team. Lucca and Marle sucked anus. Ayla was good if you knew how to use her correctly, you know not have ber smash stuff like one would think, but my having her steal crap.
I used Chrono, Magus, and Marle to heal.
Oh God, I have to play CT again...
Crono Marle and Lucca.
x3
Marl and Lucca were so worthless though. I'm shocked that ANYONE uses them.

I owned with them though. They're pretty powerful if you raise them right...
That sounds gay doesn't it?

lol xD
Sounds delicious. :P
I never played Cross...i hve trigger for the PSX, u kno, the one that came with ff4? well yeah, i couldnt stay with it, too confusing on where to go. i got to that barbarian place and quit...just got bored...maybe i should continue? i already have so many rpgs i need to finish...Radiata Stories, FFXII, FF4(GBA).
i wouldnt mind play cross tho, im listening to that song that guy posted on here...its amazing.
Chrono Cross's Music is extremely well done. Another World is one of my all-time favorite video game songs.
I agree, Chrono Cross's music IS very well done. I liked the Boss Battle, Fates~Godes of destiny and the one where you fight the dragon god/time devourer for the first time.
It was a great game. If you looked deep enough into it you would see that it had a great storyline. However, most people do not look far enough and are confused. Sadly, though, I like Chrono Trigger better. It seemed more.."complete" to me. Thoguh it lacked the ammount f skills and spells CC had.
Alright i played CT and beat it over 26 times...i beat lavos with only chrono at only level 42 and got the best ending (the one where you see messages from the makers of the game)...it is by far my FAVORITE game, ive beaten over five hundred games and been playing games since i was only six years old...CT takes the cake over them all...Now onto chrono cross...I never liked it, i started playing when it first came out..and sadly i never got into it...i played maybe 2 hours and i was like hell this doesnt even compare to CT, i shut it off and never played it again...Sorry but Chrono cross isnt even as good as any of the FF series...even tactics...which i hated, personally i think chrono cross was a mockery of CT..Not to bash anyones favorite game, just my own personal view...Done Ranting ;D
Deathreaper711
I played CC and I love the yaoi pair SergexGlenn. LOL.

I must stop you there, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest has the best game music of ALL TIME.
H..forgot one thing: The thing in which brings Chrono Chross down a notch is it's over abundance of party members. WHY do we need so many members? They are all generally the same and most are not really that interesting. The only ones I really used were Glen, Viper, Kid, that axe wielding fellow..and thats about it. Well, unless I HAD to use someone else.
For me Chrono Cross's draw was in the plotline and the music. I didn't care much about the rest. I just played it to get more story, and get to the next song.
I'm playing it just so I can beat it, because then I beat both Chronos.
Perhaps it's just me, and I know it will sound Blasphemous, but I actually prefered Chrono Cross to Chrono Trigger.

Your one of the few people that have actually said that. Wow.
It's a good game, yeah..but to me it dosn't even get close to Chrono Trigger.
I think the story of CC is better than CT, but only by a very thin margin.
Chrono Trigger also has a pretty good Final Boss (Who actually has music!)
The second-to-final boss in CC was good, th final was horrible, though. It know the "music" was supposed to represent the end of everything/time..but it just did not get me going.
Lavos was a beast. I always thought it was stupid that you went inside him though. The outer shell would've been a much better form for him.
Trigger definately had a better end boss.
Lavos was too easy in CT. I never beat CC because I never got a chance to play it, my brother hogged it.
Lavos was incredibly easy if you had the right party.

:D Nice...
I used Robo, Magus, and Frog, best party ever.
Concordo with Mex!
That was the PERFCT party in that game.
I used Magus, Chrono and Marle. That worked out rather well, I must say.
Marle and Frog make an excellent combo. I still like Frog, Magus and Robo though...
When do you get to play as Lynx Serge? Because I just beat shadow Lynx, I know my brother almost finished the first disc, or maybe he did, and I loved playing with Lynx, the shape shifter and the alien dud with a gun.
Although I have come to love Guile, he is the best party member I have out of Serge, Kid and Him, his first tech is awesome, it destroys!
I think it's either in the middle or almost at the end of the first dic. I'm sure it's at the end, though.
Really? Thank, then I think my brother beat the first disc. But I think he had one more thing to do on. Now if only I can find my brother's memory card...
There is a mod that puts the colosseum back into the future in the Chrono Trigger rom. The overworld sprite for it is still in the romdata, but for some reason the developers left it out of the final build. You can find it at Chrono Compendium (http://www.chronocompendium.com/Stories/29.html)
really? cool...
