hi i have downloaded the trial version a couple of times to no avail...i start to install the program and when its about finished i get an error message that states "could not write value to key \RGSS.Archive\shell\open\command..."
then it stops installing and tells me to contact support personel.... ???
Does anyone have a clue as to what i need to do-im itching to make my own rpg-i have had the greatest( in mm opinion) story for a while. I am not the most computer savy-so i am lost and confused at this installation error. I have redownloaded it from the actuall site and other sites that provide the xp version-and the same error occurs.
Please help...would be appreciated.
Oh since im a RPG Maker noob-another question-lets say i actually get this up and running soon-can i import my own music files to play in the game-like if i wanted a certain band or song to give the game a different feel-ok i will leave you guys alone... ;)

this is the comple intallation error message i get: Could not write value to key \RGSS.Archive\shell\open\command Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel
really dont know what to do-again im installing on the admin account on my home compter and windows firewall and my spyware doctor have been disabled for the download and i still get this error
so any other suggestions-your help is much appreciated
if you have tried installing it on different computers and it still fails, then the installation is bad, you will need a new version.
He did download a new version.
Open up regedit and see what's wrong.. Although it may be and issue with your windows install.
no way a problem with windows...how old is the machine? is it new? if its old I bet its not the OS since well he has other software on it..
well it was a problem with my windows-got frustrated-took the time to re-install windows xp home-and i was good to go-but now i have another problem-it is installed fine but i go to run it and i get an error message saying failed to inniate directx audio-so i installed directx 9c and still get the same error....
You need to install a Sound Driver. Therefore you need a Sound card first.
I usually get the same error when I format my HDD, install Windoze, install RMXP and try to start it before I have installed the Audio Drivers.
thankyou im up and running perfectly-thanks for all the help guys-rock on
