Title: [Visual] *Update* My Art Skillz
Post by: Tsunokiette on October 24, 2006, 09:39:45 PM
Well, seeing as my old topic is nowhere to be found *cough*. I'm re opening it.

Remember that older sketch I drew? Looking at the cover of a volume of the manga Negima! ?

Well, today I decided to try to draw the same outfit, on another girl, in a different pose. This is being done without looking at anything for reference. I forgot to make the scarf - tie float too. She's going to be in the "charge" magic pose. Arms out holding balls of pure energy.

All I have done is the torso and the miniskirt. *cough* Girls, tell me if I got my anatomy right, please.

It's looking good. Heck, I'M a girl, and I still have trouble drawing girls' bodies. >_>;

Are you intending to finish the picture? Or did you just draw this outfit on it's own? I'm looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks. ^_^

Of course I'll continue on it, It took me 3 hours to get what you see done, so it'll take a while. For some reason I'm having trouble drawing limbs lol.

Its a great picture of a dress, or maybe the invisible girl lol.

Now we need to find a girl to wear it lol..

Very nice keep it up and practice faces so your image can be complete @_@

It looks good, but her belly is a little bit too "long". Make it a little bit shorter.

Yes, the torso is somewhat elongated.  Also, torsos are not rectangular in shape.  They taper inward at the waist.  That goes for males and females, of almost all ages.

Like this ?

I've added limbs, but something still doesn't seem to look right. It's just ... off.

Order I draw in -

What I don't normaly do, but have to do if I'm in school

What I'd do if I was alone. IE : What I normaly do

The later takes a lot less time than the former, but my teacher saw me doing it in class one time, and laughed.
He then walked up to me, put his hand on my shoulder. (I wasn't paying attention) And told me I needed to put some clothes on her, she'll get cold. xD Everybody in the room turned and started laughing.

Haha, I've never had that problem because I always draw clothing simultaneously with the rest of the piece.  If you need guidelines & such, though, you can just sorta make it a stick figure.

Oh, and about the updated drawing... those legs are WAY too short. XD

Yeah, the legs are too short. Otherwise, keep it up.

How I draw, when I draw:

When I'm alone... :=

Seeing as my goal was completed.... Sort of. I trashed the original, but the copy is stil on the computer, so I can always print it out and continue on it later.

I'm working on a character profile now. The low-detailed scaled model of the character makes him look like a softy... So I'm adding a high-detailed close up of his face. My pencil's lead is just too thick to add enough detail.

*I'll add it later*

I'm going to start working on a full-figure version. As much detail as possible. I've never been good with folds... so wish me luck lolz.

BTW: The lead on my pencil was too thick when I drew it, so he looks like an ugly Negi. *reference to Negima!*

I swear I'll include the profile later lol, I forgot to bring my binder home today.

I hear you there. Limbs, for some reason, are the hardest to get drawn. I've been practicing for three years and I'm still horrible at limbs; bad limbs mess up everything about the art drawn by a person. The torso you drew was very good.

I do okay with limbs, except with females, sometimes.  Especially female legs.  Sometimes.  Not always.  Most of the time I do okay.

This is good Tsuniokette. One thing I noticed though is that the body is a little square. If you want to bring out the sexy parts of it just the narrow the waist and widen the hips. That should give you a more busty figure. Please understand that I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just trying to give constructive criticism. And good luck drawing the rest!
