Hi all, I thought I would introduce myself to the community. I am currently working on a game and after much time and checking / rechecking, I have a demo available to share. BTW - yes, I know the title is a mispell, its on purpose. Anyway, I am currently at work so I cannot post the demo as of yet, but I can do it later if I have a request for it.
The features are as follows:
-some actual voice sampling
-panic system
-karma system
-action based battles
-extremly unique menu system - inner minds view
-dramatic lighting/shadows
-small puzzles
possible future additions:
-hacking system
-custom home floor layout system
-zombie/human playability
-multiple endings
Story:
Your just the average fellow in an extremly pleasant community. Through means described in the game, the town becomes infested with zombies. First slowly, and then later massive undead hordes. Your action plan follows your own demise. It will get pretty open optioned in ways of winning the game. You can work on organizing the town survivors and planning an all out assult on retaking the town, you can work on helping everyone escape, you can leave everyone to themselves and just try to escape yourself, or maybe... just maybe - you can become a member of the undead force on eat your way to freedom. These are all paths you will be able to choose but I cannot promise sucess in any of these routes. The future is unwritten. :)
Panic system means if you take on too much too fast, you will become overloaded and impared with panic, your vision is impared, your movement is impared(more ways than one!). Things can be done, or consumed to calm yourself and also you slowly calm down over time.
Karma system allows your actions to be evaluated which in turn effects how the community views and interacts with you.
Action based battles allows you to use many different common items as weapons ranging from slingshots to baseball bats, golf clubs, rocks, kitchen utensols and whatever I can dream up. Also available is guns. The guns will be very limited MOST of the time since they will severly offbalance gameplay.
As far as the menu system goes, there is no menu's, no words, no inventory per say, but what you can do at most times is retreat to the inner sanctum of your mind. To go into one's own mind. You can meet other people or objects in here depending on whats going on in the game at the time. But be aware that everyone in your mind is strictly a figment of your own imagination---(or are they??). Anyway, the inventory system resides in your mind as well in a matter of sorts.
As far as the dramatic lighting, I have added shadow overlays which create a dark ambiance compared to most of the tilesets available today. This does add an erie effect to the maps at times.
I have also included one puzzle in the demo and so far the demo is liniar due to the fact that you have to follow a certain story line to begin with to explain the systems and the infestation. Later, I would like to branch out from the liniar line and have a bit more free roam on the city. did I meantion hordes of zombies? he he.
So my future ideas which may or maynot come to play out is the hacking system, i.e. computer hacking in game with minipuzzles and rewards.. hacking to open shortcuts up, or view security cameras or whatever.. The custom home floor layout... this is something I did previously in an unreleased game where you can aquire your choice of items, and place them in your 'hideout' to improve asthetically or be of actual use like a reinforced door to keep them zombies out. Also, you would have the ability to determin where you wanted to place the items you get. I have already created a system that allows you to turn into a zombie upon death but I havent decided if I wanted to put all the work into creating almost a completly second game for the zombie mode. If I follow it through, you could win the game by exterminating either the humans or the zombies... your choice! Thus playing a big part on the multiple endings.
So that is the game in a nutshell. Any ideas to add to it? or advice? or requests for demo???
Feel free to ask away or comment away. constructive criticism is my friend!!!
Thanks agian

oh yeah, about the voice sampling, in the intro, I do have voice acting overlaying the text. Was thinking about carrying that over to the major scenes in the game.

I am creating this with RPG Maker XP - Postality Knights Edition ENHANCED
the file size is apprx 6.84 megs... too big.. sorry, its prolly cuz of the audio I have included into some parts of the game. its a give and take system, the more you want, the more you give. anyway, its in a self extracting rar file. OH yeah, and the file name is called creeping death.. was the original title but i thought it was way to cliche.
I hope rapidshare works for you guys, I couldnt think of anything else at the moment...
Here is the link, and thanks for testing!

Sounds like a fun game. The inner Sanctom sounds like a cool idea. I would like to play a demo for this game. Keep up the good work.

Action based battles allows you to use many different common items as weapons ranging from slingshots to baseball bats, gold clubs,
clubs made of gold are common items? lol :lol :fred:
do you win if you hop in a helicopter and leave the zombies and humans to kill eachother?
gold clubs.. lmao!!!
sorry, correction: golf clubs...
whoops!!!
I suppose a possible ending could be the helecopter ending. But how much fun is that??? for you, I could put it in.. but it would have to be a long journey to the copter!! I will try to add the demo tonight once i get home.
Personally I'd say the best ending for a game like this is that you die at the end.
THIS is my kind of game! I cannot wait!
Hope its better than Dead Rising that was a let down. Just make it less impossible than dead rising is and you'll be cool. Will this game be a full horror or a comedy horror or what?
Really, it sounds like a darker version of earthbound, mixed in with silent hill.
atleast make them try to rescue people with a helicopter (makes sense)
the helicopter could go down or not maybe if you get in and it goes down you get stuck in a really really bad spot for being selfish and leaving the other humans (karma system)
I love it, good idea.. unfortunatly I never played dead rising and there tends to be some humor writing into my style... Ok, now I will try to figure out out to post my demo... give me a few... and thanks for the replies!
Ok --
sorry it took me a bit, I wanted to touch up a few more things. I feel bad releasing what I am right now cuz there is still so much I want to fix. Anyway here is a few pictures hope you like...

use above link
oh yeah, I really like the 'you die' ending.. maybe that could be a possible ending... whoops, sorry, all that work..nothin.. sounds like the majority of zombie movies...lol
-------------------
doah! just found a small whoops
if you play through the demo and get to the additional stuff and you want to see the puzzle you will have to find the hotspot on the ground to teleport you to the next map in front of you home... just keep clicking action around the side.. 2 or 3 steps from the side..
sorry!
"You have reached the download-limit for free-users. Want to download more?" :(
wow, the story seems more like a tut than a story, it fits in pretty good though. Anyway, I only read the first few lines cause for some reason, my eyes switch off if its plain text (thats why I'm not good with reading). Sounds diffrent, which is good cause I like games with a unique story line. Best of luck ;D!

Hey all, thanks for looking. Can I get other input on this post cuz mostly my maps are / will be not larger than one screen size. I can still shrink them down even more but I was wondering what everyone else thinks overall!
for Winged~also-- I tried to clean up the explanation a little in style so it reads a little easier
Mine crashes when I try and interact with the scarecrow in your bgack yard and when I try to use the ladder . >:( other than that it seems really fun.
hmm.. that stinks. I will have to check into it.. unfortunatly, I am at work, It will have to wait till later tonight. sorry! :(
i think i fixed the issue... its just so hard to tell when it works fine on your own computer...
new link posted in the other spots...
Nope still crashes when I get to the Scarecrow. 100th post.

whats the scarecrow supposed to do that makes the game crash?
ok guess I will try again...
the only thing i can think of is that the called sound effects were not in the game se folder...
transferred them there and then converted all the .wavs to .ogg format to conserve space...
new file size 6 MB
download link adjusted... could you be so kind and try again todne?
Still crashes when I get to the scarecrow. :'(
grrrrr!
ok... When exactly does the crash happen? When you first examine it or when in its dialog?
im sorry!
------------------update-------------------------
