Title: Help with walking through brick walls
Post by: ChaosSpartan28 on October 14, 2006, 01:31:08 AM
Ok here is the problem.
I am using RPG Maker XP- Postality Knights Edition ENHANCED. So far I have made 3 rooms,(Outside Chapel, Inside Chapel,2nd floor of Chapel).

Outside:
Problem: I have a little brick wall outlining the chapel. I put it on 2nd Layer. I test it and for some reason I can walk through it. I delete the bricks on layer 2 and place them in layer 3. Same thing happens.
Help: I need some help on how to prevent my characters from walking through the bricks.

Inside:
Problem: I have walls set up only at the top. Even though it have them there, I can walk up them. They are on the 2nd layer.
Help: I need to know what layer to put the walls on or if I need to add some sort of event.

2nd Floor:
Problem: Same as the Inside but also how do I make wall dividers as in more then 1 room in side of a map without making a teleport to another map.

Plz help if you need a sample of the game I can post it.

Edit: I am also for some reason walking up the front side of the chapel in the Outside Chapel map. The other side dont let you walk through them.

I don't really think layers have anything to with walking on events. The main thing to worry about is if they are set to passable or unpassable.

Read THIS TOPIC HERE (http://rmrk.net/index.php?topic=2878.0).

Go to the question, I have problems with my map. The player can walk over solid stuff. How do I fix this?.

It may not seem like it, but that can help. If it STILL doesn't work, go into the Database (in RMXP), into the Tileset Tab.

Here you can set the passabilty levels of each tile you see there.

O means the player can walk over it.
X means it's the same height as the player.

If it still doesn't help, then post the demo.

Thanx dude I will check it out and if that doesnt work I wil try your other method. In fact I do remember seeing that X and O thing earlier when I was watching Zxmelee's Video Tutorials.

Edit: It didn't work so here is a link to download the demo. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9VQVP65K

Your problem is you used an autotile meant for a roof for your "walls".

You can tell by looking up it's autotile name, "Roof02" and in the database you can see that it's priority is set as 5 (on top of everything else)

Now, the way to fix this is set it's priority to 0 (aka a dot) and make the passability an X and not a square.

Thank you. I tried it and it worked. But I just decided to make a different design. Thank you so much for trying to help.  :D
