i'm trying to get my head round a certain thing. i have a character name input screen and i need to make it so that events will detect this name and use it in the text messages they give
is this even possible?
Er...yea, if you're using rpgmaker xp, then in your "show message" type \N[_]
(replace _ with a number, which should match up the Hero List...meaning Arshes is normally 1 and Basil is normally 2.)

after changing name and stuff....assuming the new name is now Bob and the character whose name was changed was the first.
(do a show message event)
Hello \N[1]!
-------------------------------------------------
the message will show up to be "Hello Bob!"
Funny story, you can do the exact same thing with a mini "n" in rm2k3 for the EXACT Same effect.
