Slash, a young adult who finds himself on a ship when he returns to land. he is at prot Starside, the oppostie side of the world from where he lives.

you left out the background for the game and the character descriptions

and that boat is missing some of the railings along with any signs of a method of propulsion
where are the men the guy is talking to?
and there are 2 wheels...

The bottom corners of the boats deck are above the ships Railings (See under the message window)...

Also the Railings do not run the full length of the boat so if you was to try walking around the boat you may be able to walk on the sea aswell...

But I like to help people so here is a battler I found for a Sailor:-
