Title: Help With Enemy Encounter
Post by: blah555 on September 27, 2006, 03:05:05 AM
Hello, I'm new to this site, and I was wondering if anyone could help me with my RPG maker 2003 program. I was wondering if it is possible to place monsters in the map, without placing them. What I mean by this is simply how do I make a battle appear awe where the hero is without placing an event for my hero to contact with? how do I use the enemy encounter rate on my map? thanks   ;D

no, I mean that on the proportes on the map, theres an enemy encounter rate, like what set of enemies registered into the data base and when they come up at different times during the progress of walking on this map or anything involving the hero, I just would like to know how that works.

Theoretically, the lower the number, the more encounters you'll have.

Set it to 1 and you're supposed to encounter an enemy every step. Set it to 500, then you'll have an encounter randomly once every 500.

Of course it's an estimate, and random, so...

so in otherwords, the lower the number on the enemy encounter rate, the more enemies will come? or the higher the number the more enemies will come?

Yes.  You'll enter battle more often.

the number is an estimate as to how many steps you should need to take to find another enemy

higher number -> less enemies
lower number -> more enemies
