Are you doing it through an event or the map properties? And do you have an events running parallel processes?

Parallel Process doesn't freeze the game, so thats the best way to do it.

Auto Start freezes all other processses, including character movement, so that might be why you can't move.

MAKE SURE that when running a parralel process, you put at least a 0.1 step wait after all of the event script in the event. OTHERWISE, it will run too quickly, and your game will be frozen.

You shouldn't need an event to set music for towns anyway. You can do that in the "Map Properties" window.
