I'm thinking about getting either a PSP or an ipod. I'm not sure which one to buy. The PSP has wifi and lots of games, but I think the ipod might have better music playback and it holds more music.
some alternatives might be the Zen instead of the ipod, Or the gp2x instead of the PSP.
I know the're not really the same type of thing but could you guys give me a hand.

Ipod. I bought a PSP, I don't think it's gonna be supported much longer...
Thanks... I think I might get the ipod then..
Don't get an ipod if you want n mp3 player. They're the worst ones available. They burn out within six months and have shit storage space. Get a Toshiba Mp3 player.
sweet i'll check it out
Well, there's something I didn't know...Thanks for the info Fu.
No problem. I try to be helpfull.
I have a 20GB Creative Zen, and I haven't had any problems with it at all. iPods suck so horribly. A friend of mine had one and it completely just stopped working after about 3 months. Pretty much anything that is popular is going to suck majorly.
I'm going to assume it cost less than an isuck.
If I remember correctly, at the time it cost about the same as a 10GB iPod.
I dont know... the new nanos are looking kinda of sexy. I thought that microsoft was going to try and kill the Ipod

I got both Psp and an Ipod. and i reckon the PSP is better. Due to the fact you can play games on it.
Its also good for storing porn on it. so you can have Porn when you travel. haha.
But the music playback is just as good as a ipod.

I guess, but I need an mp3 player that can hold a lot of music, and won't break when you touch it too hard. I don't care what it looks like.
There's nothing wrong with iPods. They're just as reliable, if not more reliable than other MP3 players. Everyone keeps complaining about how they always break and die out. For every Pod that meets misfortune, there's another 50 that work perfectly fine for years. I've found this true for many other mp3 players like Zen, Dell DJ, and yes, Toshiba. What really makes iPods so great against other mp3 players is the numerous accessories available for them. If you're into that kind of thing, get the iPod. Plus, used and refurbished Pods are much more readily available on eBay than other brands. Just don't let people try to convince you that iPods suck balls, because the same could be said in comparison for every other mp3 player on the market.
Now to the PSP. I would say no. That's a personal preference though. Since you are choosing between that and the iPod, I'm guessing you're interested very much in listening to music. The PSP isn't built for that. You need to buy memory sticks for it, which cost close to a stand-alone mp3 player. The games are geared mostly towards racing and sports games, so if you like those, the PSP isn't a bad choice. Plus there's always emulators.
But, overall, I'd say get the iPod. People may say that they're terrible, maybe because they knew someone whose iPod broke and automatically made severe judgments about it. Or maybe because they're just Microsoft fanboys who can't stand anything Apple. But they're not a bad product by any means, and I'm looking into getting a Mini myself.
I am normal. :=
I have an mp3 player with 512MB and it´s enough for me, I don´t need more.
I just use my phone as my mp3 player :/ I have a 128mb memory card right now but I'm thinkin of getting a 1 or 2GB one.
I'd say any player other than an iPod, unless looking "cool" means that much to you. You're paying alot just for the brand :/
I mostly have between 200 and 300 filled up with music and the rest I use as an USB Stick. As I said, I don´t need more.
*cough* ...iPod sux... *cough*
The main reason Ipods suck ass is the fact other brands have more storage space for the same price or less.
I have a 60 gig iPod video that's been working completely flawlessly for the last 14 months.
Oh, look, here's a Toshiba 60 gig mp3 player
http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Toshiba_Gigabeat_S_60_GB
It's ~$360.
IMAGINE THAT, THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I PAYED FOR MY IpOD

I'm talking used / refurbished here, which in general are the same price or lower than other used / refurbished players.
imo this topic goes in entertainment.
I'd go with iPod... I just think the PSP is a stupid waste of money anyways! But then I'd use a cell-phone instead of an iPod if I had one. ;D
Uhm hyper, ipods fail. End of story.
Do you just hate Apple or something? I find it hard to believe all this hatred formed simply from the product being a bit pricey.
A combanation of Ipods dying quickly, costing more tham competing brands, and dying faster than competing brands. I think it's a legit reason to hate ipods.
Also, I don't even consider Macs real computers. It's not that I hate apple, I just pity the people why buy their products.
What proof do you have that the majority of iPods die quickly?
Well, most of the guys I have talked to that own Ipods are satisfied, but lack a piece of truly reliable equipment.
I KNOW A GUY AND AT COLLEGE HE PLUGGED HIS IPOD INTO ONE OF THE COMPUTERS AND BOTH THE COMPUTER AND HIS IPOD CRASHED, I'LL NEVER EVER GET ONE.
Lol, I know somebody who wouldn't even consider getting a similar phone to mine when he asked me for suggestions, because his mum's sister or something had a motorola phone once and the battery went funny.
Unless it's a proven ipod-wide problem (like the nano's scratchability) I'd pretty much ignore it.
Generally, you can find an alternative player of comparable or larger size for less. I'm sure you could find a 60GB ipod cheaper than a 80GB toshibawhatever if you look at a cheap store for the ipod and an expensive store (lol, shopping.com) for the toshiba.
The main reason I dislike ipods is I can't just plug it in and drag files across like a mass storage device like I can with my current phone or mp3 player. Also it sorts everything by ID3 tags, not folders / filenames. (maybe they changed it, idk)
But if you flash your ipod with a different 3rd party firmware (say, Rockbox) then it's alot better, and you can play vorbis / flac etc. But doing that kinda defeats the point of buying an ipod in the first place.
thanks for the feedback

It'd be worth it in the long run. As I said earlier, iPods have more support and features, like the 3rd party firmware you mentioned. Plus, they kill any other mp3 player in terms of accessories. Sometimes, you just gotta go with what the media supports, otherwise you'll miss out.
well i am guessing ipod cant play games lol
And the PSP can? (BURN)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_Portable_games
Do they have a list of PSP games that aren't crappy PS2 ports?
The psp is the best handheld system to date the ipod may have more song capasity but i'd like to see apple come out with a handheld that can play ps2 like graphics.
All I know is that my PSP was a fairly large dissapointment. I'm considering selling it.

You make it sound as though it's a proven fact.

Same thing happend to my sis' Computer. Also My friend is on his 3rd iPod because they keep freezing up and dieing. He takes great care of them too. Also a kid at my school, his iPod froze and then the back of it got hot, hotter, and started melting a little... So from what I see iPod sux...
You realize he was being sarcastic, right? I mean, it's okay to miss that kind of thing, given he didn't put a :V, but still.
if ur gonna buy an ipod don't buy an actual ipod, buy a less brand name one since those are not only cheaper, they are more reliable, and don't require using itunes (which is the stupidest thing ever)

Noone makes iPods except Apple. ???
GET BOTH!
I don't have the money to get even one. :-\
wouldn't you rather play videos on this instead of a tiny ipod screen?
wtf is that?
iriver
A friend of mine had that. It was actually pretty sweet.
much better screen for videos and you can probably get one for quite a bit less than an ipod

I'm not too sure. An ipod is very good for listening to music and watching movies. The PSP has good, portable graphics but the game are bad in my opinion. Ipod.
