Title: Invalid Color Depth
Post by: xanaxx on March 17, 2006, 03:37:07 AM
Every image I've loaded into RPGMaker2k3(for Pictures and Titlescreens) has always been invalid color depth.  I made sure it was 320 x 240, and it still says it.  Can anyone help me?

EDIT:  Here is the pic i want to use.  maybe it will help u somebody figure this out.

Well if PNG didn't work, change it to something else!

Save as .. *.bmp.. if 24 bit doesnt work you have to do it with 256 color BMP ..
Same problems with 2000.

but if you save as 256 color bitmap, you lose color information, and it doesn't look the same.  It's weird, because I opened the "main" chipset (after backing it up first), copied a block of pixels 2x2 - pasted them in, and put them in the same spot I copied it from, and saved it.  When I tried to import the edited one, I got the error.    How does this happen, when the copy is (presumably) exactly the same?

You have to convert to an eight bit format (indexed color), then save as an 8-bit .bmp. I just learned this the other day, you can do it with a program like photoshop. Just in case you dont have it, I did it for you.

This is the proper depth, it should work properly now.
