Title: the noob files.
Post by: Infenyte on December 14, 2005, 06:51:27 PM
As you must know now im a 100% noob!

i know there is a manual for variables but since im dutch and being not that good in english i put my question here.

What if you want to make a event only happen once in the entire game!
how do you do that (it has something to do with those variables right?)

more question will come up (i just know that)

Variables COULD be used to do that. But it's much easier to use a SWITCH.
Looks up a switch topic in the Tutorials board.

to make events go to the Event layer, and click on a square and choose a type of event you would like to make.

make an auto start event
precondition it with your npc moved switch
get to the 2nd tab and look for "change event location"
in p.knights it's right under teleport.

choose the npc event, move it anywhere you want and erase the autostart event with erase event.

hope it helps

i think he means that it's doing averything perfectly, just over again when you return.

And the end of the event, turn a switch on, then make a 2nd page, with nothing on it, and set the requirements for that page as the switch you turned on. Then the guy will stop reaapearing there.

I have it now! thanks guys!
I have thanks to you the first chapter made!
but...
i noticed that in almost every RPG game there is an introduction with pieces of text appearing (like in the dragonRPG here)
it would really help if i knew how to do that.

thanks for the time you put in me!

(wow i say thanks alot)

And now for the most newbie question ever known in the entire world:
How can you put resources (like tile sets, monsters , charactars etc.)
into RpG maker 2004 and Xp?
(yep making 2 story's at the same time (to bad one of them i made Dutch)

Just think i am an complete moron with an IQ of 10 (i think some of you even think about me that way) and teach me of the way of resource entering owh great sensei!

Thanks guys for the help!
I made a little demo of my game and im happy of the outcome.

It isn't much, i still need to make a good title and a prologue.
(you know: in most Rpg games pieces of text appear like: Once upon a time was a young warrior etc etc.) Don't know how to do that yet.
it would be helpfull if someone knew that!

anyways, thanks all!

make a new map set the starting point to be on that map

have the hero looking out across a lake or whatever for effect.

use display picture to dsplay a picture of the intro then get it to fade away

use music

hope that help somewhat if your using rpg maker xp you could always write a script or somting
