I was curious as to what type of battle music you guys prefer in games, the more traditional orchestral music, or the more rock-type music.
I prefer orchestral music. To me, it makes the battle seem more....natural.
With rock music it feels to chaotic and wild.
i perfer orgastra too but for a more futureistic game or a real cool cut or battle scene i use rock/techno/metal
Orchestral.
Battle music I write myself is orchestral as well, here's one of my battle themes:
[EDIT'D AWAY]
Cool. Mind if I use it in my game?
Actually yes I do mind, I shouldn't really be showing people the music I create for 3drpgb.

Ok. Sorry.
Hmm... it's tied now.
orchestral all the way!!!
btw: I don't wanna wait till I'm a junior, so... is there any music theory classes online or what not?
I'd say rock. Orchestral would belong more in the ending or an emotional part of a scene. And yes, occasionally a battle, but more like a boss one.
I'd go for some crazy-heavy rock-techno battle music. Makes for an amazing soundtrack.
orchestral for the game and stuff but for Boss battles and evil places You go with Rock.
What if the whole game was crazy-heavy rock-techno music, even the slow dramatic scenes? Maybe that'd be cool, if only because it's never been done before.
I voted rock, but I belive the answer everybody here can agree on is...
both. And then some.
My battle music is a combination of orchestral and rock along with some techno sounds.
We know this is what works best because Final Fantasy uses it!
I agree. It really depends on the nature of the game. I voted for Rock, but if the situation called for some kind of mellow dramatic music and some kind of crazy heavy metal music played, I'd be scared.
Meh, I put back a peice of battle music I made.
