I know, I know, this is the place for us to share our writings. But where better would a reading challenge fit than The Librarium? I saw this floating around a few days ago and saved it to my desktop. I've decided I will try to complete it, and I would love to invite all of you to join me. After all, what better way to improve your writing than by reading?!
I figure I'll post the challenge, and as I complete one of these I'll list the book and the author beside it. And maybe if some of you guys do this too, then I can get inspiration from you ;) Since it is such a huge list, I'm cheating. I will be including books that I read in 2014. But I won't go further back than that. If you cheat, please note how you cheated lol :P Also reading should be fun, not a job. This challenge should be fun. Don't stress it, embrace it! And if you can't finish it, who cares? :ladyj:

I have no idea! Lol what if we change that to a book with your hometown name in the title?
I'll try this but these days if I have time to read it's usually books about music notation and orchestration lol

Updated, also I'm probably just going to put The Bible for "a book your mom loves" because a) it's the only book I can ever remember her reading and b) I have read it, just not all this year lol

Try the local museum, library, or archives. I grew up in a town of 10,000 people and there were lots of local people who self-published books about the history of the place.
Also, challenge accepted. Though I don't know how I could read a book at the bottom of my to-read list, as the challenge itself will ensure that the book is not at the bottom of my to-read list. Maybe I just have to read every book on my to-read list.

I just took it to mean a book that you are in no hurry to read. Maybe something that you thought might be interesting, but couldn't bring yourself to actually read it yet? lol I don't really have a "to-read" list, so I'm stumped on that one too :)

Good idea. I added a comments section to mine too.
Finished "The Story of My Life" I really thought I would like it more than I did. I mean she's incredible, don't get me wrong. But I was mostly left thinking about how lucky she was to be born into a family who could afford a tutor and who cared enough to be bothered.
Updated and edited to add links to wikipedia articles about most of the books. Just in case anyone thinks they may be interested in reading them and wants to know more about them. The Last Rescue links to Amazon because there is no wikipedia article about it. And the other two should be pretty self explanatory lol :)
I remember now why I hate challenges. Because although I read a good bit, I hate having to tailor my reading to a certain list, so I may be editing some of these to suit what I read this year lol
Triple post because apparently I'm the only person who has time to read for pleasure any more. And that is sad ;9
I was serious about doing this, then I didn't.
I used to read all the time, but it's been awhile since I've read a book.
The last book I read was Necroscope 7, almost 2 years ago.
I should just find something and read it, even if it's not for this challenge thing. I've been meaning to read those Ice and Fire books. I've also been meaning to finish the Necroscope books (there are 16 of those divided into to 6 series.)
I highly recommend the Ice and Fire series. I'm in the midst of the Red Rising series right now, I finished Red Rising earlier, I'm more than halfway through with Golden Son, and I'll have to wait till next year for Morning Star ;_; And I am going to purchase these so that I can reread them, because I will. I love books, my library card is well used. But I don't have the space nor finances to purchase every book I want to read. I buy a lot at GoodWill/Salvation Army and places like that. And usually, when I finish reading them, I donate them to my library. But some I just can't let go of. The only books I actually own and intend to keep right now are: The Song of Ice and Fire Series, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit, and various religious books (bibles, etc) And I intend to add the Red Rising Trilogy to those.
