Title: Tracing Programs?
Post by: Mushu on September 06, 2013, 04:22:24 AM
This is kind of an odd question but are there any programs that you can place over something and trace with? Like if you had that program up you'd be able to trace your desktop picture or w/e program is under it etc. or basically the program is somewhat transparent.

Edit: When I first looked up 'tracing programs' on google it gave me weird programmer type stuff, but I found a thing that sets transparency for all windows, was going to use as a ruler over another program. lol

Okay, I swear I read that like 4 times, and I don't get what you're asking for here lolz...   Can you clarify?

Sorry, I can be wishy-washy, and I think I've asked it somewhere here before too. x.x

I was basically looking for a way to make all programs partially transparent or an individual one that could so that I could trace things on-screen(easier in some instances than using print screen) or to make a ruler on said program and make it an overlay on a game/paint program to measure distance etc.

The program I found that does that is 'Actual Transparent Window'. It gives you a 4th button next to minimize/restore/close that sets it between transparent and opaque and if you right click you can set specific opacity. Very very fun, but you probably don't need it.

Are you talking about screen capture and record stuff?
If you need to have a window for it that makes a photo or movie from the thing what is behind use Bandicam. ;)
You can find this here:

For winows minimize use "Windows+M" and then open the one you need, it's easier, faster and for sure no spyware. ;) (\s/)

I think what he wants is basically a way to be able to see a picture while in a paint type program to be able to trace it. I THINK.
In which case, why not use gimp or photoshop and screenshot whatever you want to trace. Paste it and make the whole layer semi-transperent. Then you can make another layer under it and trace or whatever :P I think this is what you want I'm not sure..
