Quite possibly discovered.
I heard about this this morning, Wonderful news
It's just confirming something we were 99% sure existed already. Big deal! Would have been a way more interesting discovery had we been able to prove it didn't exist.
No, that wouldn't be interesting at all. It would be very disappointing.
I think it's good we discovered it so we can stop calling it the god particle now that it's been proven
I AGREE WITH THE KITTEN. Although it's great they found what they were looking for, and we were right about physics and shit, it would've been interesting if they never found it. It would call for a rethinking of the entire Standard Model and who knows, we might've learned something different about the nature of the universe.
However, I ALSO DISAGREE WITH THE KITTEN. It's is a big deal. Things in physics are considered proved until disproved, yes, but now that we actually have evidence that it exists rather than just people looking at a puzzle, seeing that there's one piece missing, and predicting the properties of this piece, there's a lot more comfort in the way we think about the universe.
