Title: Rage: The Scorchers
Post by: Holkeye on June 19, 2012, 06:23:27 AM
I know that Rage was far from perfect. It was broken on release, it was fairly linear for a hub and spoke game, the mission variety wasn't that great... But I loved it. It was the first FPS that I played through from beginning to end, and enjoyed the entire way through, in a long time. A new copyright registration on the title "Rage: The Scorchers" hints at DLC coming out this year. The Scorchers were a bandit clan that was cut from the final game, due to time restraints. Paid/free DLC arguments aside, I'm looking forward to playing more of this game.

I've still not played rage, mostly due to all the negative reception. Is the bugginess resolved nowadays? How long would you say the campaign is?

The bugginess is still a little prevalent but not near as much as it was on launch. The campaign is a good 9h's or so, which is somewhat decent compared to the modern rehash 4 hour shit. I'd say it's worth a good playthrough.

I haven't played it since like last year, but it ran fine for me then. I had an occasional ctd, but it didn't make me stop.

Awesme. Thank you. I don't know how I didn't hear about this. This is easily one of the solidest single-player games of the generation. There are some things wrong with it, but overall it's better than most everything out there right now.

I never had any issues playing it, but I only got it during December, after a few patches. Performance was really good most of the time. It took my probably 15 hours to beat it, give or take 2.

They've had that DLC menu sitting there for a long time...I kept the game installed up until a few months ago in anticipation, but they never announced anything. :[ Hopefully it'll be longer than a few missions. Don't want to spend five hours downloading it and two hours playing it and 30 seconds uninstalling it.

This is exciting news.
