Using Pinguy OS which is based off ubuntu
My laptop has Radeon "duel graphics" which is a 6630g and a 7450m (HP g6-1331ea) though the OS only recognises the APU not the card, any help getting it used?
What drivers do you have installed, the proprietary drivers or the free ones?
ATIs proprietary drivers
That actually could be part of the problem. If I recall correctly, the free drivers are known to function better with dual setups than the proprietary drivers are. Go figure. Of course, there are also drawbacks to both drivers, so it's also worth asking what you plan on using the computer for regarding 3D acceleration and the like, as the free drivers tend to not handle 3D as well as the proprietary drivers, but the proprietary drivers also have a reputation for being... well, very glitchy and problematic at times.
EDIT: Out of curiosity, what's the output of lspci as root?
EDIT 2: Just to be a little bit more clear.... :P
su -c 'lspci | grep VGA'
Gives - SU: Authentication error
though here is the sudo lshw

That's right, you said it's an OS based off of Ubuntu... I forgot that they don't use root itself, so yeah, that would throw an authentication error (since it can't be authenticated). From the lshw output, it looks like it's recognizing the ATI card, but I've always found the output of lshw a bit daunting to read, personally.
Anyway, the reason I wanted you to post the output of lspci is because it should give a more specific idea of what's there. You should still be able to do that with sudo lspci | grep VGA to get the video card.
The other reason is because I wanted to double-check the AMD website and find out if the card is officially supported by the proprietary driver (because some outright aren't).

It recognises the APU not the 7450m.
I should also say in the BIO's i have tried to force the 7450m to be perminatly on/switched too.
That's just really odd, that it's recognizing the APU but not the 7450m. Anyway, just for some more information, what's the output of fglrxinfo, and is Xorg showing any errors?
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "(EE)"

Mostly Fedora and Debian. ;)
That's definitely good to know, though.

Back on topic, I am... not sure what the problem is, Link. You're not getting any Xorg errors about a missing display driver, fglrx is making use of the 6630G, and everything else is just moving along as if the 7450M simply is not there.
Is there any BIOS setting to disable access to the 6630G? There may not be, but the question is still worth asking. :)
Yeah i've tried that, i think im gonna take linux off my laptop, i looked it up and it seems most linux have a problem with switching between the two cards.
Any suggestion between an ubuntu based or arch linux in use for a desktop?

Depends, we kind of go in between the two and use Debian with the Sid (testing) repositories. Debian Sid is rolling-release (like Arch) and also Ubuntu-like in a way, considering Ubuntu is a derivative of Debian. :)
You have to know a decent amount about packaging with the deb package managers to really make good use of it, though, since the packages are in... well, testing. They sometimes have a tendency to break (like any rolling-release), so it also helps if you know what to do if you're stuck sitting at a terminal to troubleshoot problems. :)

Yeah i was thinking of installing arch, as on my desktop my keyboard doesn't play nice with Pinguy for some reason. Or i might just try and fix that.
