Title: [RM2K] Quick question about creating custom charsets
Post by: Milennin on July 05, 2011, 10:33:56 AM
Quick question about RPGMaker 2000 charsets. How do I create my own charsets without editing existing ones? Whenever I make my own .png files they just show up black in RPGMaker, and when using existing ones it's very colour limited.

I know it is possible, because I managed to do some many years ago. But I really can't remember how.

I'm going off of help file information and I've never actually used RPG Maker 2000 but ... I believe that you can only use BMP or PNG files that are 256 colors or lower. I'm pretty certain the black background means that you're trying to use alpha channel transparency, which is more than likely not supported within RPG Maker 2000. So in order to make your own, you will need to downscale your graphics to 256 colors and not use any transparency.
