how do I make a file transparent before placing it in the extra_tiles folder? can photoshop do that?

Yes, photoshop and pretty much any other photo editor (like Paint.NET if you're looking for something free) can make the background transparent. Just use the magic wand tool (depending on whether your chosen editor has this feature, you may need to set the tolerance to 0 as well), hold shift and select the colour you want to get rid of. It should select it all. Then just delete it.

the first one worked perfectly fine but this one isn't turning transparent :P
