Title: [Request] Skit System
Post by: starfoxluver on February 03, 2011, 12:29:23 AM
Hello, I just got RPG Maker XP and I wanted to make my current game on it. I need a skit system for it.
The Skit System was introduced in the "Tales" series by Bandai-Namco and its a little optional scene where you press a certain button and the characters will have a brief chat with each other.
A good example of the skit system is from Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World:

If you need more info, I'll do my best to describe it more clearly.

You don't need a script. Just make a common event that runs on parallel process. In this, all you need is to have something checking if the skit button is being pressed and whether the conditions are met for it - then you can just run the skit using Show Picture commands. You would also need to use Show Picture to notify the player when conditions are met.

It may take some time to setup, but even with scripting there is little you could do to reduce the amount of time you would need to configure it. This is something which is way better to do with events.
