Title: Cartography!
Post by: fthmdg on September 22, 2010, 10:01:18 AM
Started working on the maps for my new project today. I got the alpha mapping done, and an older-looking, worn down map started as well. Haven't placed any names or locations yet, but I thought I'd share anyways!

C&C Welcome!

Edit :: Recolored the map, took the contrast down a bit.

It looks very well-done, and for the most part, it's a believable landscape. My only gripe is with some of your rivers. You may not be going for realism here, but most rivers naturally flow from north to south (Don't ask why, but with the exception of the Nile, it's rare to find a river going the other direction). And while it's not impossible, the river running through your southernmost island is a little weird to me. Over time, it would cause the mainland to split since the water doesn't come from a source.

Other than that, though (and it's really not too big of a deal), I dig it.

Oh, that's a good point. I didn't really think of that. I like it though, pure
And thanks! :] I just finished the colored one, though I'll probably redo it, that one just doesn't feel right to me.

I've got Campaign Cartographer, but I cant figure it out either.
I use photoshop for all of these, it's not too difficult.
