Title: [Query] Hard-to-describe-system
Post by: Sashikinaroji on September 14, 2010, 03:12:56 PM
Now, I don't really want to have anyone make it, and I have no idea how I would search for it (the explanation would be hard to type into a search engine, dontcha know?) and, really, I was just curious as to whether or not it existed...

What I was wondering, is if there was some sort of zelda-styled battle system (well, I know there is, but there's more that goes into this) that has a graphic in the bottom corner that displays 4 icons for different types of attacks (that the player can set) on top of a layout of the keys (set to the keys that the player chooses in the controller option of the player, not the equivilant of the key. That is, a z, or a +, not an a, b, x or y).

I can't think of any game that uses it, but something tells me it is something like the system in the old dragonball budokai games (I don't think it's in the new one) where it shows which key is set to ki blast, punch, kick, and guard (at least, I think it shows that) so that you don't have to look back at the instructions or rerun the tutorial to remember how to play, on the fly.

Basically, though, I just want to know if such a system exists/is possible... And, if you recall what it was, a link to find it.

Again, I really wouldn't know what to look up for this, but I know that some game uses it...

Also, as a possible side thought, be able to set the "action keys" in the menu, so they don't have to be a game-button, and it won't reduce functionality.

Twilight3000 uses one in his game The Legend of Zelda the realm of the Gods. I'm pretty sure that they made it though. Maybe you could see if he'd let you use it, or alter the script or something?

*Tip o' the Hat*

Thank you both for your help. I'll check those out to see if they are what I'm looking for.

RAGE!

Ok, I see that the zelda one has the image-based setup like I want, a nice system, which I assume is customizable. However, it is stated that all his stuff is custom, and it is implied that he wont hand them out.

Now, the other one, I assume is going to work, but for the life of me, I can't find the DL link~! I loked all over here (http://www.hbgames.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=56154&start=0&sid=12750d1f9533aae1ac25b3f70b8a1683) but to no avail!

Head hurts...

Any place I can find that speaks of ABS does not have a dl link, so searching is no help...

I'm using Requiem ABS 8, it's the only one I can find the download to. But I don't remember the link. I've got to head to class, so I should be able to check later tonight and send you the link to it if you want?

It's so hard to find sites with good organization...
PRABS (http://www.rpgmakervx.net/index.php?showtopic=21110&st=0&p=186188&#entry186188) it has 2 download links.

And the Requiem one (http://www.rpgmakervx.net/index.php?showtopic=15289&st=0&p=133719&#entry133719)
