It's fake. The source you linked got the image from some thread on the Steam forums.
While the image is fake, hopefully it'll still be Valve's "surprise" for E3.

That's true. And with all of the updates for the HL2 games lately, I would not be surprised if they added in some easter eggs while claiming the updates are just for OS X and the graphics.
