Title: Adobe CS5
Post by: Moss. on June 02, 2010, 01:28:06 PM
http://cs5.org/

The new version came out last month.
I'm excited because, for once, the changes seem more than just cosmetic. I mean, Photoshop does 3D crap now! Check out the website, it's crazy.
And I'm also happy that Dreamweaver has better code hinting for CSS3.

Adobe's installer is a piece of shit.

~350MB of files, around 1.5GB installed (at least it tells me it will take this much space).

I can copy 350MB of data to this drive in about 4 seconds. 1.5GB in under 15. This Photoshop installer has been going for about half an hour now. Half an hour.

What the hell is so hard, Adobe? Put your files, spam my registry with entries (of which perhaps 5% are actually needed), and then get the hell off my screen.

Adobe CS3 and CS4 installers do not even complete the installation on my machine. They fail to even install, guaranteed, each and every time. I expect this one to also, if it ever actually finishes.

[edit] And why should I have to close firefox to install photoshop? Fuck off.

Wow, would you look at that.

And it AGAIN wants me to close firefox in order to wipe this failed scum off my computer

Eh, I'm still using CS3, though the office at work is getting the CS5 suite.  Just seems too overbloated to me.

I'll keep using CS3 for now. I already use other tools for doing 3D modelling and drawing already (3D Max), so those features wouldn't mean much to me.

I'm using cs3 as well. cs5 is pretty magical, and that's what I both like and hate about it. It seriously doesn't even make sense what some of the stuff that it can do. I hate that anyone can pick them up now and just title themselves "graphic designer" without any training or talent. The program does it for them now. :|

Oh well. The stuff it can do is crazy now.

Do you mean that it can create 3D models like a 3D modeling program? or that you can edit 3D models from other programs like textures and things? Cause cs3 can do 3D stuff too.

Textures are just flat images. So technically most image editing software can edit them. :X

I usually just use Photoshop for pixel art and basic image editing. I really like the tabs, but I'm not sure if they had them in PS CS4, because I never used it.

I hate when programs force their own theme on the entire programinstead of using your visual style.

I thought you were just complaining about how you can't change or customize the layout.

What. I'm talking about Photoshop not using my visual style, like iTunes and Chrome. :[

My fossil of a computer couldn't hope to run this thing. I've got enough problems trying to run CS3 on its own.

Of course, I love my fossil of a computer, I just need more RAM.

Adobe CS5 fucking pwns your face off with new features. Fuck everything you know aboutg any other version of photoshop. I might have actuallyh bought CS5 this time. Its that good.

The content aware fill is way too awesome. Now nana can photoshop too. If you haven't seen the content aware for yourself youtube it. Just simply amazing. They added a whole host of other features like better selection, and better hdr processing that just makes my life that much more worth living.

So props to Adobe for making a legit new version.  ;8

Btw... typing this from my new oc'ed driod so forgive my typos and brevity.

I just saw the content-aware fill... I dropped a huge load on my keyboard. T'was an explosion of epic proportions, but I digress--

It looks like they actually made some really good changes this time.
