Get the fucking game. Best sandbox game I have ever played, better than Saints Row 2.
It's fun. I don't know if I'd call it the best anything yet, but it is fun.

It's fun.
Exactly.
More fun than Saints Row 2, which is the alternate most fun sandbox game I've played.
All a game has to be is fun. That's the point of games. Don't get artsy on me you fags, I understand that it's a medium that can communicate very important messages, but I prefer physics that don't make much sense, and using 10,000 parachutes in an hour.
Who are you arguing with?

Pre-emptive arguing, because everybody will pick a fight with me just for posting anything.
;9
better than saints row 2? it better have some amazing mission design to top that game. the variation in missions was CRAZY in SR2 it's a reason it's far and away my favorite sandbox of all time. but hey who knows. just cause 2 looks good.
Strike, I'd say the missions were better in saints row 2, but whereas all of the sandbox experience of Saints Row 2 is more or less in a city, Just Cause 2 has arctic environments, deserts, jungles, cityscapes, islands, and the scope of the world is huge.
true that. but one of my favorite thing about saints row 2 was the mission design and the variation. the fun of blowing shit up for no reason was just a bonus.
that said i'd really like to play JC2 but i am super busy this week, give me a couple weeks and i'll get around to it.

You better. The whole reason biohazard got this game was because he thought you were going to play it. ::)
Well, I'd been playing it on 360. Also
>Just Cause 2 thread
>Thread is entirely about operating systems
Oh you. :-*
I have it for 360, too. This is the kind of game that is better with a controller.
I generally like third person games with a controller. And since it has lock-on type features, aiming isn't much of a priority.
If you like this, you should try Crackdown. It's not as involved, but the exploration is fun.
Circular arguments FTW!!!
This game looks fantastic! I'm going to have to wait for the price to drop, but I really want to pick this up. The variety in landscape is great, compared to your typical limited landscape in most sandbox games. How is the combat? I hear all the shit you can do is insane.

I've only played the demo but it's a lot of fun. I can't really get into sandbox games anymore though, so I had my fill after a few playthroughs of the demo.
Grappling all over the place and using an infinite supply of parachutes is awesome.

Yep, beat the game a while back.
And as for the combat, you can upgrade the weapons, there are a lot of them, you can grapple and pull people off things to their death, tether them to things like a pinata, or to a helicopter, then fly up and let go
I'd like a bit more focus on the melee, but whatever.
I have it on PC, and I think the controls would be easier to work with on 360, but you get used to it after a bit.
That said, it's still a great game, and there's so much to do in it.
360 controllers happen to work with Windows.
can't. stop. playing. demo.

Game's ten times as awesome. There is a floating airship called the mile high club, it's a fucking dance party in the sky. Plus, there is one of the fastest jets on it, and a runway so you can take off from the ship. THE GAME IS FUCKING AWESOME.
Just played through the demo, and this game is insane. I gotta get this game asap.
I hear there's an island you always crash on, and on that island there's a hatch.

I know, but at this point, I'm already good with the keyboard and mouse, so I'll stick with it.
so good i had to buy it. it's not worth renting a game this large.5 hours in i've found like 44/350+ places and i've only actually landed at like 10 of em. if there was one thing i loved about the saboteur was the fact that there were a bunch of things you got rewarded to blow up. it's like a cross between saints row, the saboteur and mercenaries. this game is awesome.
i couldn't get past the stupid mission where you're standing on the car shooting at shit behind you. either i ran out of ammo and sat there waiting to be killed, or the car i was defending blew up while i was grappling myself to the other cars to take everyone out. i tried it about 20 times and gave up because it made no sense that it was that difficult on the easiest difficulty. and i'm really not that bad at games. lol
I just stayed on the car you have to protect and popped all the enemies' tires.
Step one: Grapple their hood, hold down the button.
Step two: Attach them to some ground in front of them
Step three: FUCKBLEWEY
oh man I totally Jumped a truck through a statue the other day. it was good times.
I just bought the game for the 360 a little while ago and just finished the second mission. This game is insanely fun so far, and I haven't even done any sandboxing. The grappling hook is amazingly fun to use for just about everything.
EDIT: Good god, the planes/jets are hard to control. The left control stick controls the roll and the pitch, but there's no way to control the yaw. Flying is a bitch.
I was watching one of my friends playing this game. He had a jetpack on his parachute, and was surfing on fighter jets.
I want this game.

This is very true.
parachute thruster dlc i guess? it's only 160 and you get that a fighter jet and a lock on rocket launcher in the market. i have 200 some points i may grab it.
i'd like to see more really cheap dlc like this. at least in more games as opposed to charging for about the same amount of content as this but with higher prices. (sup far cry 2 weapon pack)
I love this game.
Hey. Should I bother playing the first one because I play the second?
Nope. The first one wasn't good. JC2 is one of those games where the sequel outdoes the first one by miles because they listened to criticism, ala Assassin's Creed 2.
10-4. Thanks.
except Assassin's creed 1 still has a good story and aside from the repetitive missions, is still fun to play.

Well yeah, but I think you're an idiot if you can't agree that the second one blew the first out of the water.

oh no doubt. never said it didn't. I was simply saying unlike JC1, assassins creed 1 is still a decent game even though the sequel is better. :D
I haven't played Just Cause 1, but if you're comparing it to Assassin's Creed 1, it must bite a lot of dicks.
I played JC 1 and I liked it.
I got just cause 1 on PC with a deal.
I played the first 2 minutes and got stuck.
Why is the swim forward button TAB :|
I heard a lot of new games have this option where you can re-map keys. :P
There isn't an option to swim forward in the controls ;)
Only dive up and down.
google gave the answer too me

Isn't that, like, considered hacking? That's wrong, dude.
PunkBuster tries banning people who do it, but you can work around it.
Two month old bump because sandbox games never get old as long as you take long breaks between phases of playing them.
I discovered that for me, turning the HUD opacity to 0% and never opening the map while sandboxing makes the game insanely fun to play. I feel more immersed in the game, and the map size really shines. You just have to get used to not being able to see your health and heat and weapons. I also have unbreakable rope, infinite health and infinite ammo, so that could have something to do with it. \(;D)/
