Title: Prince of Perisa: The Movie

I had no idea about this until I saw a poster for it while exiting Cinemark. I must have been blind not to see this being made. Prince of Persia, one of my favorite games is being turned into a movie, and it's actually looking not half bad, though I think they're going to be trying to condense all three games into one with literary liscence. Still, Disney might actually be able to do a decent rendition of it.

It'll just be Pirates of the Caribbean in the desert.

Wow, that doesn't look that bad! As a big fan of the series too, I might actually drop $10 and go see this.

I'm betting they're going to do a sequel, because as shitty as most video game movies are, they sell like crazy, and Dark Prince is going to come in sometime around the end of this movie. Just in time for them to establish him, but to keep you interested and make you want to go see its sequel.
They should totally do Warrior Within, if only for the tight-leather chick and her boobs. Tell me she wasn't state of the art CG hotness when WW came out.

Everyone is, but this might turn out to be decent. Might.

It could be the best movie ever made. That's not why I'm against it. I'm against it because it lessens the distinction between games and film. It also lowers the legitimacy of gaming as an art form.

I don't know if I'd go that far. It may or may not, but I don't think it blurs the line between them that much, as to say lowering either party's integrity or legitimacy. If anything, it displays how much the movie industry is running out of its own ideas.

I thought the same thing when Disney popped up. The best part is that I was right, judging on some of the dialogue, scenarios, etc. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. I loved the Pirates movies.

I'll probably see this one. I'm easy to please, too, so I'll probably like it.

I agree with this.
Not every game has to be made into a movie, and not every movie has to be made into a game. Why not spend the time making a better game, based on what makes a game good, than making a decent game based off of a movie? and the same for movies.

Uhh, making a game and making a movie are two different things. Sooo... it doesn't matter who uses what time to make a movie or game.

What I meant is trying to copy the concepts from a movie into a game do not work, exactly what you're saying. ;)
And what I meant by the second sentence is that, you could spend equal development time taking those ideas and refining them into concepts that work well in games, and have a better game than a Shoot-Out that's awesome in a movie, but entirely brutal in a game.
You can't just break all of the rules of a really difficult game and make it super easy just to accommodate a single sequence in which a massive shoot out occurs, but the survival rate of the player, based on the game's previous levels, is absolutely zero, yet somehow the protagonist survives it in the movie and the game.

Anyhow, in general I think that the fact that we treat games second to movies is the problem. Resident Evil for example, is critically praised for its gritty, hard and scary gameplay but the movies are panned for their generic story, characters and cheap scares...
The public sees Resident Evil, dislikes it and then forms their opinion based on the movie, that the game isn't worth a hoot.
Therefore, a poorly adapted movie, which is more likely to be seen than the source game is to be played, reflects poorly on its source.

He seems to have got some muscle for this and looks well. When I heard the movie was going to be made, I couldn't come up with a good actor to play the price. His name never even popped up in mind and now I think he's going to make a good Prince.

=D

This post is epic win.

I gotta agree with Nighty, although at first, I didn't like the idea of him playing The Prince, I do now.

You do realize he was in high school when Donnie Darko was made?
Since then he's been a big manly man in Jarhead, Zodiac, Brothers, and of course, Brokeback Mountain :V

Don't challenge his manliness, you cretin, you.
