Title: PSP Memory
Post by: Kokowam on November 24, 2009, 10:12:50 PM
I've had my PSP since they first released it when it was ~$300. I didn't do anything with it. >_> So, I decided recently to hack it and yeah.

I saw that Pro Duo sticks cost a LOT. Well, quite a bit. :P

I looked around the internet and saw this advertised:
PhotoFast CR-5400 (http://www.amazon.com/PhotoFast-CR-5400-MicroSD-Adapter-Dual/dp/B001I0T92Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1259100324&sr=8-1)

I found a camera a while ago that has an 8GB MicroSD card in it. If I buy another 8GB MicroSD card for ~$16 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000WPDKRI/ref=sr_1_olp_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1259100665&sr=8-5&condition=new) bucks, I've saved myself a crapload of money.

Now, I'm not sure about the PhotoFast CR-5400 and everything so I thought asking you guys' opinion would be a good idea.

I've thought about this myself, but never wanted to spend the money on something that might not work. Right now I have one 8GB, 2 4GB, and a 1GB Pro Duo card. I went to a second-hand game store, and bought them there. The 8GB card was $40, which was why I bought it. Normally, they're a bit more than that. If you do end up getting it, and it works, please let me know, because I have a lot of Micro SD cards, too.

PS: I have every game every released as either an iso or a cso, so if you want anything, PM me.

Aiite, so far, I'm thinking of getting the PhotoFast thing, and I'll tell you about it~

And help with PSP hacking would be cool, too. XP

Pro Duo prices are ridiculous, so why not go for the other option:

Micro-to-Duo Adapter: $2 (http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.30940)
8GB MicroSD: $15 (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.18576)

??? I plan to do an adapter thing except the thing above is a $5 converter that can take two MicroSD's to DOUBLE CAPACITY, ahaha. But the $15 for that 8GB looks good, though.

Remember, with that dual adapter, once the cards are in they will have to be formatted to work without the adapter. This is because the device is set to work like a RAID drive, meaning that both cards will synchronize and work as one, unless they are split using a format. The adapter cannot be used with a computer card reader when in use, so the PSP will have to be used to transfer data from your computer.

Oh and:

Do you mean that I need a cable to connect the PSP directly to the computer? If so, that's fine because, apparently, my TI-calculator cables are the same format as the PSP, lol.

That's fine then. Just make sure you know you won't be able to use them under normal circumstances onces plugged in.

Good luck with the PSP hacking. Don't worry, it's pretty straight forward. :)

So how do I go about hacking it? ;-; I don't get what's up because some people jump right into some weird section of teaching and blech.

Version 2.70, btw.

Just get this: http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1044 (http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/1044)

It's the best way to get to a CFW.

After that, you'll want to upgrade to 5.00m33-6, which I can help with.

CFW = Cracked Firm Ware? Okay, I'm going to downgrade to 1.50 (after upgrading to 2.80, of course ;8) I'll edit this post when I'm done.

EDIT: Geez, how many tries does it take to get that HEN thang set up? ;9

EDIT: FINALLY, lol. 20 straight minutes of trying.

Version 1.50 successful. :3

EDIT: Holk, this? (http://www.psp-hacks.com/2009/01/20/custom-firmware-500-m33-6-released/)

EDIT: nvm, there's probably lots of steps in between. >_>

OKAY, QUADRUPLE POST/BUMP (for Holk <3)

Random stuff:
- I've gotten all the games I need, lol. 20 games (including my GBA emulator. There's even SNES and N64! :o)
- I've updated to 5.50 GEN-D2

ALSO, it WORKS!

At first, I was, like, WTFAKSDNGAWPEIYNWAY RAGEEEEEEEEE because, whenever I formatted my memory stick, it would fail and stuff. When I did the USB connection, the stick was empty besides the .IND files. So, I copy/pasta'd all the stuff from my memory stick that DID work (besides the games) and IT WORKED. ;8 I'm thinking mine is slightly defective, but it's fine. The games work and it saves normally/properly. I don't know how the games' speeds compare to a regular ProDuo, but it seems to be juuuuust fine. ;o

GEN sucks compared to M33. You shouldn't have updated. People are cracking games like crazy, so there really was no need to.

Eh? What do you mean? Also, I can always use Hellcat's Reflasher and downgrade, lol. I still have the 1GB memory stick to use for that. But yeah, mind explaining? I've run into problems where games on m33 wouldn't work and m33 isn't updated anymore, anyways. :P I think. But all the themes work for m33, ahaha. :P
