I was complaining to myself (as I often do) about how little time I get to actually make my game, and I wondered how much time the average RM user spends per day working on their project.
It's BS, really. I have a better compy here at work that at home, but I can't use RMVX because the 'net filter here at the station won't let VX validate its keycode. Sooooo...
I get around 30 minutes a day. Blerg.
I myself have varied times depending on my schedule. Sometimes I'll have as little as 20-30 minutes, sometimes I can devote hours. All depends on my workload at the time.
I'm pretty much the same as Zylos. Except I usually get 10-20 minutes.
I have no life XD
sooooo
around 3 hours a day!

Sometimes all I want to be is a missing person.
Some days I spend a minute working on it, and other days I spend 6 hours working on it, but never in between. I just have to be in an RPG-making mood.
Total time spent on my current project: 3 years.

Whoa, you're devoted to your game. O_O
Gosh, I don't feel so frustrated now.
I get to spend about 3 (full) days a week, but then it's not my game, and it's my job. Doesn't make it any less fun/interesting though ;)

I'm glad I'm not alone, although mine has been 5 years already =_=

Less than a minute per day.
I browse the internet and forums way too often to stay focused.
That's what happened to me during summer.
A couple hours a day here and there? Sometimes I'll take a 5 minute break when some weird scripting error comes around poking it's head up. Other times, I'll spend a bit of time relaxing from work or my project at Hastings and walk out after paying for $20-$150 worth of stuff. Outside of work, I have no obligations so I spend as much time as I want on it. ^_^
30 mins a day is good if you can do it everyday
i usually give an hour to every hobbie i got, an hour to play guitar, an hour to study, an hour for gym, an hour for soccer, an hour to read a book, some hours for girlfriends and boyfriends if im in a good mood and usually 2 hours to work in my game : ) 5 days a week usually
Well if you want to be technical like everyone else, the game I've been making (or moreso, wanting to make) has gone through many phases over the past 8 years, since essentially the day I got RM2K. I used to spend hours a day (maybe 5-7) working on a project. Now I spend about 1 hour a day tops working, but the quality of my work and the speed at which I produce is exponentially higher, and thus it's better than when I worked 7ish hours a day on a project.
On such a note, I'm on my 24th iteration of the menu system (obviously not all came to full fruition), and as such, I made my current menu in about 5 hours of work from having nothing to being done, not including time spent making resources. Down from when I would spend 2-3 months on a menu. I'm only on CBS #9, sadly, and the development of this kind of works around someone elses schedule, so I can't develop it as I would prefer.
I am currently working on a game. I have been working on this game for a year now. The game is called The Fantasmic World of Magic. I have been mainly isolated on this game. Doing my own scripts and making my own sprites, but recently wanted to see what other smart people can do.
I would say the game is about twenty percent done. ;D
i spend alot of time, out of school and no job because im waitng to jump state to go to school again, i get any where from 10 hours a day to work on it but i "burn the game out" and decide to take a breack from it till another day, and go do stuff with friends.. but im sure all that will change when i get in to school and get a job i'll probly only get 30 min - 1 hour a day if im lucky
Well since I have been making my game it has been when im home from school and when I have done atleast 2 hours of school work at home for the day, then I usually just be lazy and sit on the computer so thats usually a whole night, but then again I do spend time with my friends so it depends the whats going on in the day, it varies for me but the max I have spent on it would be about 4 hours lol
As much as I wish to sit down and make the game...I can't...I'm always busy...Then when I do get the time...its basically...testing different features of the program.
:D
I started work on my project about six months ago, and I'm not even fully done with my first town, yet everyone who knows I'm working on it complains that I don't get anything done... But I'm sure that after all the scripts I want done are done, it will go much faster...
I expect to be done in 2 years... If I remain working on it at the pace I am now, however, it will take closer to 5...
As you could tell from the dates on the postings, lately I have had no time to do ANYTHING including work on the game. I'm about to enter a more laid back time, (I hope), that will allow me to do both my own game and work on Brute squad material. If I get an hour each day, I'll be happy.
About 20 minutes a day. Its a small project and I like it so far.
about 2- 4 hours a day
2-3 hours a week on average. Any more than that and I begin to lose interest out of boredom.
I get that. I went through a TON of content in a month or so, and then stopped working from a mix of boredom, writer's block and other projects.
I used to work on projects 2-3 days straight, either cutting back on sleep or not sleeping at all. But for the past year I have only been working on my current project about...15-25 minutes a week? If I am trying to develop something CMS based though, I sometimes spend hours on it a day, mostly due to the excitement rush of having it complete. :tpg:
Around an 2 - 4 hours each week. But I haven't been working on any projects right now, so I don't really do anything except design some new scripts.
30 minutes-1 hour per day for the last two years.
Sometimes Ill get in as little as 5 minuetes. other times I'll be working for several hours. it varies if I have a little bit of time for something quick or Ive got nothing at all to do
I think if I worked less on making the mini-games fun and more on making the game itself, I would have so much more done... I am only 50 percent done with the casino, I need to make an evented Craps and possibly Roulette...
That should take me a few days...
If I could tear myself away from the games I'm playing, my RM project would likely be done by now.
I liked the old 16 bit nintendo games a lot more than most games today. The last game I really liked was Growlanser Generations. When I finally had the courage to attempt RPGmaker again, I decided I would spent as long as it takes to make a game I liked.
So much laziness... I've been telling myself to work on my Battlesystem for 4 days now.
I've only done some sprites instead.
Dammit, this cant go on like this.
Something has to change.
Depends, if I am in the mood, as much time as I can sacrifice (which can be 30mins to 12hours) or if I am not in the mood, then I don't work on it. I do it for enjoyment, so once I get bored, or lack inspiration, I stop. Time since started: 3years. Time spent making the games (2 different ones) 6 months non-stop?
I like to make larger, detailed maps. I don't make a map every day (although I usually make several whenever I do work on my game), and I only work on my game when I feel creative enough and have a good enough idea as to what I want to make. If I don't, they just end up looking bland or poorly designed. :(
If I'm up to it, I can easily get a large map completed and detailed in an hour or so, but I usually continue to go back and refine or modify and rework the maps throughout the development.
I am kinda like Grafikal in the sense that I work quickly. It really depends on what I'm fucking with (Events= more time consuming. Mapping= Less time consuming.)
I spend between two and five hours on my game each day.
I usually work on my game every few days or so, but when I do, I work on it for hours! I spent most of my day working on my game today! =D
Whenever I'm working on my game it is in the casino... I think I might just release a game that takes place there... Perhaps a story of a man and his dice...
Because, the way I'm going, I'll never get my project off the line... especially since it is on a flash drive that is currently MIA (Although, I know it is somewhere in my house)...
Yes, but, normally I spend a few hours every week just working on making my casino games...
Trying to work out an acceptable event-engine for craps, blackjack, roulette, and slots that is kinda true-to-life... Perhaps this attention to detail is why I never get to work on anything plot-essential?
Since i moved to the new station and have more time and resources at my disposal, I can devote almost 10 hours a day- on a slow day- or less depending on how busy it gets.
All day long, i'm on training and i have nothing to do (it takes 1 & 1/2 month) so i have time yeah....
but most of the time i'm on internet looking for scripts and resources, althought i have tons of them and so my game is on stand by most of the time lol.
*Sigh* About at least 1-1/2 hours a day..weekends..I'll devote at most 3 hours..
but if I'm in one of my "Modes" a whole day is in option
