Title: HTTP Tunneling.
Post by: ahref on October 04, 2009, 05:33:42 PM
So my university connection sucks it slows everything that isnt http. I have read about http tunneling and socks5 but google searches have bought up confusing software and sometimes viruses.

Does anyone know of an easy to use method of http tunneling?

You would first of all need a server which allows you to tunnel to it.
Secondly you would want some software which does the work needed for wrapping the http headers around.

I expect that PuTTY (http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html) can do what's needed on your end although I have only used it for SSH connections myself.
I have also heard about the TOR Project although I am not really sure what exactly it tackles.

I would guess the hardest part would be to find fast servers. Good luck on that part ^_^
