They're actually quite nice for hand-drawn battlers. :-) XD

Wow... I don't think anyone is ever going to use these. No offense, they're just bad. <_<

philip, you should use photoshop to make them with more effects... Would make them better than just paint..
And you could try to do something looking better...

Work on Shading and Perspective . . . and get something better than Paint, Photoshop preferably.

He means, he doesn't WANT credit. He wouldn't need to credit you really anyway. He made the characters ou made the battlers. He could mention that they're based off of your poopy design, but still. I'd be pretty embarrassed if someone used a character i made as a joke and took it seriously.

Nah, she was just talking about how you basically posted the same thing she did, kinda makes it redundant except that you posted a link.

@Caro, same thing happens to me a lot too ;_; no worries.

Well, good for you. Those battlers aren't THAT good, but it's a good start.

I think it's a bad start. That's hardly practicing. The only way that it's viable is if a game's entire style is meant to be like that.

Well, he just needs a little more practice and knowledge about drawing o_O. But I have none. So my point is invalid. So wait, why am I even posting this...

@phillip1756 - by the looks of it, you had used a mouse to draw then used the paint bucket to fill in color... right?
to avoid that sloppy look, unless that's what you are aiming for... I recommend:

o that you draw with either a digital art pad (graphics tablet's are pricey! $$$) or

o Draw freehand (pencil, pen) and scan your art through a scanner (real cheap! $$)

then touch up your work through paint, or whatever program you are using...

here's a sample of a pencil sketch, to sharpie outline, scanned, then colored with a drop shadow battler...
I'm still working on the texture for the boomerangs (to make them look more like wood) and a few other touches.

like any painting, you're never done until you decide to move on to the next one...
stay on it kid, practice makes perfect. ~g

Don't put drop shadows on anything, period. That's a terrible solution for shadows and it gets fucked up in RM.

@rasse - notice how it's cut off on the left?
I just threw in the effect for that post knowing it was going to have a plain background.
this battler was just an example for phillip1756, since it's in the early stages of design...
I found it to be conducive with this thread.

I don't use no stinkin' drop shadows for the actor battlers but~
I do like using the drop shadow on some of my enemy battlers (at a -90 degree angle)
to give that dark aura effect ^,^

@kipe - I'm still using adobe Photoshop 7.0 so it's true transparency seems to have no
negative effect on RM-XP, it also has a way of making it difficult for those who pirate
the art for their own use...having to edit it out completely can be a lot of work.

maybe I'll post some of my finished work in another thread, but let's keep the spotlight
on phillip1756 and help the kid out with constructive criticism.

Wow, everyone is going all out on this.
Although you do need to practice more, and It's just your first try, maybe you should get a paper and pencil and work with a scanner. Might be better?
