Title: Hey Kitkat, or anyone else who knows anime ._.
Post by: Grafikal on August 08, 2009, 04:48:08 AM
Do you know anything about the Getbackers (http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f354/Masterhien/getbackers-akabanehimikokazukibeast.jpg)? and if they plan to have another season or episodes, or even a movie appear sometime? I finished up watching all 49 episodes. I'm not much of an anime person really, but the way it ended left quite a lot of things unanswered and a massive opening for a new season and stuff.

Yeah, well there happens to be quite a lot more than the average anime.

Actually, I checked it out when you mentioned it the first time. I'm on episode seven...ish at the moment. It does kind of use a few of those anime cliches (*cough cough ill-advised english, special moves-based combat, weak points (Etc etc etc) some of those really old anime expressions that I don't seem to see too much any more*) but it's an enjoyable series, and, well, I usually stick to manga and I'm bothering with the anime. That says something, right?

ANYWAYS, THE POINT IS: I'm watching it, I'm liking it, I'll probably watch it to the end. THANK YOU FOR INTRODUCING ME THIS, GRAFIKAL.

And as for OVA's and such, Try searching around. Wikipedia probably would mention something like that - Try the manga too if you want more, it'll more likely than not have more to it. Mangafox should have it.

(WARNING:IN THE MANGA GINJI LOOKS LESS MANLY. IT MAY NOT BE THE SAME.)

[spoiler]Because you see, what happens is after a manga gets REAL popular, right in the middle of it's running the anime happens. Eventually the anime catches up to the manga (Maybe the anime's weekly while the manga's monthly, or maybe it's far too easy to stuff three chapters of manga into one show) and eventually, because of this problem, the anime has to END.

That is the terrible story known as

uhh

the otaku's sorrow.

I've been a fan of Getbackers since the first few mangas came out when I was younger. I remember reading all of the manga in actual books - ever one of them, but I can't remember if it explains the ending better. X\

What I do know is, most mangas are more involved. This one is certainly the case as in the manga there is more character building and backstory + side stories that are actually decent than there is in the anime.

Gin and Ban ftw!

Yes, I see the cliches in it all. I think what I find interesting are the characters' unique abilities and the story is actually quite unique after you get into it enough. The anime seems to spend so much time on useless things. I think I like that last several episodes or so just because I can see how if someone hadn't seen the first 40 or something, that they'd be way lost in it at that point to even bother. What kind of annoys me a bit though is it's uncanny ability to have 5 several good episodes than throw a trash episode or two in there. Kind of like not worth watching since it's just a normal or boring job they go off to do that always ends in success that didn't really add anything to the main story.

I'll tell you though, what bothers me the most and why I would like to know if there is more, is the super massive hole they left of Ban Mido's background and story. They allude to it so many times but never once explain it fully. Of course Ginji's story was completed by the end but leaving literally half the story open from Ban Mido's point of view involving him, Himiko and Yamato (if you've gotten far enough to know them yet in there. I don't remember where they really start to mention this stuff.) My point is, I don't really care if it ends and there's a bit to make up in your own imagination, but they hint just enough so that you know there's a shit ton to know but explain none of it when it's over and you don't even know enough to make some shit up. Essentially, it ended how a season should end and expected of a new season to pick up later.

And I haven't seen anything really on any more episodes or production. I don't really know where to search for that kind of thing. Google just likes to take me in circles with the things I already know and what not.

I'm reading a manga called Bakuman, and it explains, like, the life of a mangaka. Usually, after running for so long, if the magazine doesn't get a good enough rating for the manga, it gets cut. Idk how "Getbackers" is or how people had responded to it, so, idk. possibility.
