Title: [Web Design] Help?
Post by: Moss. on July 28, 2009, 05:37:56 PM
Hey. I want to re-design my site, slightly, and outsource to other sites like youtube and such a bit more. More on that later,

You know how, if you have a stumbleupon account but not the toolbar installed, if you go to stumbleupon and log in it'll put that 'fake' toolbar up at the top of the window, below the real toolbar?

I want one of those, but at the bottom, in the right hand corner.

While the main page is still navigable.
I want it to say "Find Me" and only be long/tall enough to say that. And then when you hover over it, it pulls out to the left and shows these buttons (http://www.komodomedia.com/blog/2009/06/social-network-icon-pack//) which will obviously be linked to the various places you can find me online. When you click, it'll open up in a new window. And, obviously, when you hover away it'll collapse again. Also, a divider between "Find Me" and the links would be nice. A | would be easy enough.

I'm not sure if I want it to stay in place or scroll away if the page is long, yet...

You don't have to make it for me, just tell me where I can go to find out, or what languages a need to know. All I know is html, but I have Dreamweaver, but I don't know java or flash any of hat other fancy stuff.

If I knew anything about java. How does it work? Is it similar to linking to a .css?

Actually, I think I'm gonna change my entire approach to having a website. I mean, the important stuff is all free. Facebook, myspace, twitter, google sites/accounts, etc. Those kinds of sites are the best mediums for networking, because let's be honest, nobody cares about your personal website that you (obviously) put together yourself. But EVERYBODY had a facebook account, a nice, handsome, clean, organized facebook account where you can share all your information for free.

Yeah, I'm just gonna use my hosting for storage and re-direction, I think. My videos can go on youtube, my music can go on myspace or tunecore, and my personal stuff can all go on facebook, I'll use my free google site as a blog/free theory lessons (I'll be putting those up soon), and I'll update them all through facebook and twitter.

Late reply, but I have no idea, I've never done gimmicks like that =o

I usually try to block persistent fake toolbars.
