Title: Program refuses to run; displays an error then stops.
Post by: Nashidaran on April 07, 2009, 11:23:24 PM
So I downloaded the trial, installed it, then ran the program. I was met with the following error message:

File Corrupted !

Please run a virus-check, then reinstall the application.

after which point--nothing. The program simply will not load.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, then re-downloaded the installation program to ensure a functional file, rinsed and repeated the process. I've searched the net and found no help. I've searched various forums, including this one, and come back empty. The same error appears with both XP and VX, but games run just fine with the RTP's installed.

- I'm running Windows XP SP2.
- Before I run the programs, I disable antivirus and anti-whatever software.
- I did not download a hacked or cracked copy, this is a clean version.

So, with all that said, can anyone help me to figure this out?

The only way this happens is if you did a system restore. As it (For weird reasons), screws up RPG Maker XP. You'd have to restore it back

Hmm. System restore--no, I've heard too many horror stories about it to not avoid system restore unless absolutely necessary, but I recently had to reinstall windows, and I forgot to disconnect the other hard drive, so the boot order decided to name my main disk as D:

*sighs* I'm going to have to do a full backup, reformat, and proper reinstall if I want the program to work, aren't I?

Have you run the suggested virus check? Maybe some virus is corrupting files.
Do you say that games runs normaly, but the editor doesn't? That's really weird. However, try updating DirectX to 9.0c and having all internet services up(RMXP/VX checks the internet when started). Maybe unistalling and reinstalling it in another directory may help. Have you downloaded it from the official webpage?
