Title: My Cat Is Sick
Post by: Holkeye on February 18, 2009, 12:02:08 PM
Out of nowhere at around 2am last night, my cat started having shallow breaths and didn't move from his spot on my bed. He's been there all night, when usually he is up and roaming around. I tried petting him, and he didn't start purring, which he normally does, and when I tried picking him up, he started moaning. I don't know what to do because I know nothing at all about animal sickness, and it came on so suddenly. I've never seen him act like this, and I've been pretty upset all night.

Well I'm sure you have already, but call a vet. :x The only thing I can think of that could come on so quickly would be something digestive- I'm sure anything else would have shown some sort of signs previously. I'm no vet of course, but that would make sense to me...

I'd get it checked out as soon as possible before anything else happens.

I hope it gets well soon :(

I have to wait until 9am to call a vet.

I agree with Arrow. Your cat may have eaten some dust or some garbage around/in the house, like a peice of plastic of a candy wrapper of anything.

I hope for the best ^_^

The best would be to call the vet, and ask them. I've had cats most of my life, but this has never happened to any of them. How old is your cat?(I doubt it has with the age to do, but who knows).

Either he ate something that messed with his stomach, or more likely the varnish fumes from downstairs messed with his sensitive olfactory system.

That's why the vets always tell you to cut the noses off your cats when you bring them in to get spayed or neutered.
